Alucard listened to what Rose had to say. She was talking it rather calmly from what he could tell, but she had also experienced madness herself and been around it much more then he had. She was right about the vampire stories having been around for a long time and them having to come from somewhere. He wasn't sure what to think about it. He had been aware of his madness for some time now. He heard her mention preparing for if he went mad, or rather he thought when.
" I have been preparing myself mentally for it to happen since I first found out about my madness. It is easy to deal with normally and I hardly ever even notice a hint of it showing. It rarely flares up like it did before, which was still mild." Alucard said to her. " As far as stopping me goes and having a plan, I don't know enough about what my third stage mutation will be like and how my madness will cause me to act other then that thirst for blood. I guess you could still make up a plan, but it won't help much if my madness doesn't do what you expect it to do."
Alucard had said that last part because he sometimes wondered if his madness wasn't an entity of it's own that just happened to live in his body with him.

Rose felt no need to be anything but calm. Would her panicking over the potential danger his power had really help the situation? Not at all. It'd make the whole thing ten times worse.
"Just because it hasn't, doesn't mean it won't. My advice would be to talk to Parker. Have him create mental blocks. It's the safest and easiest way to separate yourself from it." She paused for half a moment. "God knows, it helped me. I would have gone crazy sooner if Sky hadn't created them." Now... She handled her own mental blocks. Every time she felt it flare up, she used her power to protect herself, cut it's head off, if you will. But, Alucard wasn't capable of that, and never would.
"So you're saying we should do nothing, and when it finally does bar it's teeth, we should scramble? Yes, brilliant idea." She fixed him with a look that called him an idiot. "You know, that would get even more people killed if you proved to be ridiculously violent."
It was just like a fire. If you panicked, you were likely to die. If you knew what to do, and stayed calm, you'd make it out alive. You never knew what would happen, but was it really wise to do absolutely nothing, like Alucard was bent on doing?

Alucard just listened to her talking down on him once more like she had done before. He didn't know if this was just normal for her to do or if she really did think so little of him. She had mentioned mental blocks to hold it being created, but that had already been tried before. He had been sent to the institute because he needed to learn how to control it himself since the blocks never worked. The madness always flared up with his mutation and would some how by pass the blocks. He didn't know how that was possible, but that was how it happened. He had figured out how to notice it and stop it from surfacing too much, but it had been awhile since he had it show up enough to press his control. He looked away from Rose and just looked into the emptiness around them as he thought about what he could do.
" I'm not doing nothing about it, it is just that I am not for sure what all can be done other then confining me once I lose control." Alucard said to Rose in reply. " I will just have to be caged until I regain control."
Alucard got up after he finished talking and picked up his plate. He walked over to the stove and picked up the pan and spatchula and took them to the sink. He began to wash his mess.

Rose wasn't talking down to him. Alucard just seemed to believe it was impossible for a Nightshade not to think poorly of him. Now being cold and heartless about it.... That was pretty normal for her. Obviously though, he still failed to realize this. That Rose treated everyone like this, him and Parker included.
Stuffing her hands in her pockets, she scowled as he turned away from her. "I don't mean to be harsh. But you're old enough that I shouldn't have to baby you." She paused. "It just feels like you're making up more excuses than anything else." Sighing, Rose left the kitchen, not wanting to fight. It wouldn't do either of them any good if they got in another argument. Best leave before she made things worse. Her social skills weren't the very best after all... And even the most innocent of conversations could turn sour on her.
Rose returned downstairs, this time not entering the memorial room. Instead, she leaned against the wall outside, thinking. Ever since her suicide, the once social and bubbly girl had turned into a sullen, moody, and short tempered young woman. That cheerful glow to her was gone. Sighing, she shook her head. "It's better this way... Isn't it?" she whispered, talking to herself. "At least... No one will get hurt..." She moved away from the wall, turning into the room and staring somberly at the portraits from the last nine years.
"I'm sorry... I never meant for any of you to die for me..." Still speaking to herself, of course, she moved her gaze between six portraits. Each of these individuals had died in her presence. Died protecting her...

Alucard heard Rose leaving as he just started washing the dishes. A moment after she had left, one of the cooking staff shooed Alucard out of the kitchen even though his dishes weren't done saying that he had better things to do. He wasn't sure why she had done that, but he wanted to see why Rose had suddenly left. He managed to find her heading back towards the basement and went after her. He was about to turn the corner when he heard her talking to herself. He stopped before coming into view and listened. He heard her move off the wall not long after and then went to see what she was doing. She had went back into the room with all the pictures again. He slowly walked towards the entrance into the room and heard her talking again.
" You are being far too hard on yourself. What happened has already happened and is in the past is it not? I believe that if you could speak to any of them about what had happened none of them would blame you for it and they would tell you to stop focusing on the past so much and look towards the future more." Alucard said to Rose as he walked up next to her. " You should also stop putting up these walls around yourself. You say your trying to protect others from yourself, but I believe it is your way of trying to protect yourself. I know for a fact that you don't need those walls up around yourself either. You have always been a wonderful person, and even everything that has happened hasn't changed that. Just remember that Rose. I will be waiting in the hallway when your done."
Alucard turned to head to the hallway after he had finished saying all of that to her.

It wasn’t that Rose wanted him to follow her and over hear what she said. But half of her expected he might. The other half didn’t care. He’d interrupted her mourning, and she had to go back and finish. What neither part of her seemed to expect though, was him piping in.
She turned her head, staring at him through a few stray locks of hair. She couldn’t help but laugh a little hearing what he had to say. It wasn’t really funny… But... Well, maybe it was her own insanity that found it so amusing. She didn’t say anything though, just shake her head and look back at the portraits as he left, gathering her thoughts.
”I can’t move on.” She’d spoken when it was in the doorway, not even looking at him this time. ”I understand war and pain better than most people. So why…. Why does everyone seem to think I need protecting? Why do they have to get in the way?” She reached out to touch the portrait of Ian. ”Why don’t they ever listen to me..?”
”No one seems to understand. I keep people away for their own safety. Not my own. I don’t care what happens to me. But…. Everyone that gets close dies. I can’t even count the number of times Parker has almost been added to this wall…”

Alucard stopped in the doorway as she started talking to him. She didn't seem to get what he had said to her. That seemed to happen to him, so he figured he just didn't say it right. She was also in pain it seemed to him and she would be until she opened herself back up to someone freely. Parker might know what she was feeling thanks to his powers, but that wasn't going to help her if she didn't open up and tell him herself. He should explain to her what he meant.
" You can't move on you say? You keep people away for their own safety? You don't need protecting? Rose, I haven't been able to be there for you in the past like I should have been to even hope of being called your family, but I think it is time I be the family you deserve from now on." Alucard said to her. " I want to help you remove whatever is your way that is keeping you from moving on. I want to make it so you can get close to people again. I want to protect you from yourself. I swear to you Rose and you have my word, I will do everything in my power to do those things even if it costs me my life."
Alucard walked out into the hallway as he finished saying this and didn't even give her a chance to reply.

Remove what was in her way? Was that even possible? And… What if she didn’t want to move on? What really caught her attention though…. Was the last part of what he said. She’d just told him, she didn’t want anyone else laying down their life for her. No. Never again. And protect her from herself? She scoffed. The last time that happened she ended up killing herself, all because her insanity was taking out everything threat it found…. Even herself.
Speaking of insanity… Just that sentence alone, him saying he would die for her…. It made her snap. He really didn’t understand why she couldn’t let people protect her.
Rose stormed out after him. Without saying anything, she grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into the wall. Her strength was incredible, until you realize her arm was coated in black matter. ”You shouldn’t make that promise.”
Her voice would send chills down his spine. He’d only met Shadow a few times before, but he’d see their older, and deceased, cousin in Rose. It was eerie, and to most, absolutely terrifying. She lost all sense of self control during her episodes, attacking friend and foe, killing even.
A few moments passed, before she staggered away from him, forcing her hand to let go of his throat before she tried to strangle him. She turned away, holding her head. It felt like it was splitting, but that was normal. She was insane after all, just not quite in the same way as Alucard…. "Dammit..."

Alucard had been grabbed by Rose not long after he had walked out of the room. He saw the madness in her eyes and was surprised by her strength until he saw the black coating her arm. He was scared slightly, but it quickly passed since he was use to this kind of behavior. Nightshades had interesting ways of reacting to things. Rose seemed to have regained control of herself though. She let go of him and moved away from him with her back to him. She was holding her head, and he guessed it had something to do with what just happened. He was going to say something to her, but an idea came to him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his razor he carried with him and bent down. He cut his legs just above his shoes and stood back up. He hoped this worked.
" Rose, don't worry about what just happened. Losing control is fine so long as you regain it afterwards. Besides, I told you that I'm going to be here for you from now on even at the cost of my life so it is fine." Alucard said to Rose. " So lets work on controlling our madness together."
Alucard patted her head right after he finished talking, and the sound of his voice and the way he patted her head would seem as if it came from in front of her. When she moved to look at him though, he was standing in front of her. He was standing on the ceiling though and hanging down from it to look her in the eyes.

Alucard should be scared. Rose was older than him. More experienced. Stronger. She could easily overpower him if she wanted. It was a good thing the episode had only lasted a moment, otherwise… Well, he really would have been in trouble. Big trouble.
Rose was taking several deep breaths, to stay in control, when she spoke. ”Yeah, well it’s not fine for me. There’s always a chance I won’t come back…” If she didn’t manage to control herself quickly, the chance of returning to normal grew slimmer and slimmer. She was only sane now, because she’d fallen so far death was the only thing that could save her!
”Stop saying that. Unless you want me to kill you.” Something saying they would risk their life for her was her trigger. It’s what made her snap. She did have some serious issues with people protecting her after all… Imagine what she might do if someone actually tried.
She blinked in surprise when she realized he was on the ceiling. What the hell? Other people might find it funny, but her…. Not so much. ”Get down from there before you leave a mark. God knows how some people might react if you left scuff marks.” That’s be quite the story. Figuring out how shoe prints got on the ceiling.

Alucard was kind of surprised his idea worked out, but since it had worked he started thinking of other things that might also be possible if this was. He was not in the place to try them at the moment though. He heard her tell him to get off the ceiling, which he didn't feel like doing at the moment, but he was going to listen to her anyways since he figured out what one of her triggers were thanks to this whole situation. He released his control over his power and began to drop immediately. He curled up and spun around and landed on his feet. He might not have looked like it, but he was in much better shape then you would think he would be in. He turned around to face Rose after he landed.
" I figured out a trigger just now. Twice when I mentioned protecting you, you got angry and the first time you lost control for a moment. It seems that is something that causes you to lose it for a moment, or at least makes you very angry." Alucard said to her. " I wonder what else triggers your madness as well? We will need to figure out some of the others so we can learn how best to control your madness."

"Obviously. So why not keep quiet about the subject from now on?" Rose had rolled her eyes. She didn't see why he seemed to think it was such a huge accomplishment to find one of her triggers. Parker had already warned him to stay off the subject around her. If anything it made him dense for not figuring it out sooner.
"We? I don't recall ever saying I needed your help. Or anyone's for that matter. The only thing you need to worry about, is when I lose control. Not the causes." Maybe it was just left over frustration that was making her snippy, verbally biting his head off with out a second thought.
Rose turned to leave, but paused, her back to him. "I'm warning you now. This isn't your problem. It's mine. Let me deal with it, and stay out." It was strange, Rose was open to helping Alucard with the madness inside him, but as soon as you tried to tame hers... She withdrew. She was focused on keeping people out, helping them but not letting them help her.

Alucard listened to her berate him and continue to insist that he needed to just stay away from her and not help her. He was getting annoyed himself now at her for being so stubborn and blind to how much she was actually hurting herself and others at the same time by doing this kind of thing. She wanted to help him, so he was going to help her. She was so scared of hurting others that she was doing just that by telling people they couldn't get close to her even if they wanted to. Rose had her back to him by the time she had finished talking.
" Rose you didn't have to tell me you needed help, and this is my problem as well. I am your family and this is something to do with the family, and that means all three of us here. I also will worry about the causes because that is the key to figuring out how to deal with the madness. You said I need a plan to deal with my madness? Well how good of a plan is just guarding against the madness if your not going to actually fight back against it? We have to find the causes of our madness as we guard against it and once we know the causes we use them to make it so our madness won't be nearly as strong." Alucard said to Rose. " Like it or not, what you are doing right now is running away. You can do what you want, but I for one am going to fight the madness within me."
Alucard didn't wait for her to lash out at him in anger like before and simply got himself back on the ceiling and walked past where Rose was standing. He had figured out what to do about the madness, if only the plan, but he wasn't sure how much Rose was going to enjoy what he said.

Rose actually twitched. Why couldn’t Alucard just leave it alone? Why did he have to keep trying to force his way in? Couldn’t he be happy with her talking to him? That they’d even told him she was alive? Now… She wanted someone to erase that knowledge from his head just because she was irritated. Thankfully she wouldn’t act on the thought.
Sadly, he left before she could chew him out. Brat…. She was tempted, far to tempted, to just put up a barrier to block his escape. But…. She didn’t. It would be pathetic of her to do such a thing. Rolling her eyes, she turned and headed in the other direction, fuming.
How dare he think she wasn’t doing anything. He had no idea what he was talking about. He only lost it a few moments each time. He didn’t even know what happened in those moments. How come he still acted entirely like a Nightshade, except when it came to listening to those older than him? If they were at the main house right now, he wouldn’t have even considered back talking to her! Probably because the act gave the older family member permission to 'punish' them...

Alucard had ended up going to his room and changing into his training cloths and was walking on the ceiling again. He wasn't sure were he wanted to test out his new ideas at, so he had ended up randomly roaming the hallways of the mansion aimlessly for awhile. He didn't think about it much, but his blood had kept from all rushing to his head while he was like this. He had eliminated several places to try out his ideas out already, but the most obvious place to try it at he couldn't get into without someone letting him in. This place was obviously the danger room, which had a new updated system installed so people couldn't randomly use it whenever they pleased. It might or might not have had something to do with Alucard using it the other day before the big blue man had gotten into the observation room. With all of that having happened, that left Alucard walking on the ceiling of the mansion aimlessly.
Alucard's aimless adventure of exploring the mansion from the angle of hanging from the roof had stirred up an interesting reaction. There was now a rumor running through the students who were still at the mansion like wild fire about a bloody ghost that walked on the ceiling saying 'where? where?' as it traveled in search of what it was seeking.
