James was right to assume any attempt to 'fix' her eyes with out her consent would go over poorly. The girl would consider the whole thing an attack, and completely lose control of herself. He'd likely be killed if that happened.
His question shocked the girl, her blue green eyes a little wide as she looked at him. How did he come to that conclusion?! "No. Just your power." Okay, it came out a lot harsher then intended. But considering her lack of social skills, it was the best she could do. As he went on though, she stared at him.
No.... Freedom...?
Several minutes of intent staring followed, the gears in her head turning as she pondered over the idea. The longer she thought about it though, the more confused she seemed to get. By the time she finally spoke up, a few minutes later, she seemed to have lost all interest in understanding what he'd said. "I don't get it."
The expression on her face as she sat on the grass almost ordered him to pick a new topic if he wanted to keep talking with her. She personally didn't care. As long as he didn't try making her understand philosophy once again...

'Freedom' a concept literally beyond her comprehension...It was something James had not directly considered, but he supposed that it should have been obvious from the start. During the several minutes of Alice's silent contemplation James considered what it would be like to have no concept of freedom. It was undoubtedly a sad state of affairs to find one's self in, but what would it actually mean. Ultimately he surmised that it would mean a lack of self-actualization leading to a lose of self.
Putting all that psycho mumbojumbo aside however, it was time he put away his lecturing hat, and just try and be a friend, after all this is something they both desperately needed.
James sat down in the grass next to Alice, and smiled again.
""Alright...alright...enough of that. It just occurred to me that we barely know anything about each other to begin with. So tell ya what...to pass the time how bout we ask each other questions? I'll ask one, and you decide if you want to answer then You ask one and I will do the same. Sound good? Of course, if you rather would do something else, I'm all for it. James waited for some measure of response from her, and he was met with the now familiar blank stare he had come to recognize as 'Alice being off in Wonderland'. "Alright, I guess I'll start then... James responded casually as he absently picked at a piece of grass in front of him. "What is your favorite part about the night?"
