Sky fell flat on her bed, exhausted physically and emotionally. Literally, the baby was sucking energy from her every day, but it was the price to pay. Sky was now very large and most of her clothes didn't fit her protruding belly and changing body. The baby was coming soon...Sky could feel it.
The baby was a girl. Sky was certain of that and was certain this child would be underestimated in the mutant world, where her powers were concerned. But she wouldn't be surprised if she became more powerful than Cain. As Sky pondered this thought, a small nudge came from inside with a feeling of impatience and curiosity. Smiling, she gently placed her hand on her belly.
"Patience, little one. You'll be here soon enough." The baby seemed soothed by Sky's calming voice and prodded from inside a few more times before growing tired. It was fascinating that she could see the baby's movements underneath her skin. A baby's mind was so purely innocent, it almost made her sad to think that one day, this child would wreak havoc throughout the world, like her father. But Sky could sense the potential for greatness inside her and it made her shiver in excitement.
Suddenly, a rolling pain inside her made Sky double over, almost dropping down to her knees. God, it was unbearable!! But soon it subsided, but almost as soon as it was gone, another series of spasms went through her, causing her to groan in agony.
The baby was coming.

Cain was in a hurry to get back to the island, more then usual. He could feel a power growing and knew it had to be his child, and his connection to Sky caused him to feel her as well. A foolish member of the island tried to stop him and tell him Sky needed to be alone. They would find his body trapped inside the wall on the second floor. He continued down until he came to Sky's room and was inside within moments.
"Sky, my love, what's happening?"
He was at her side, helping her to relax on the bed. He had a feeling something was happening, and it was happening now. He ran out, grabbing what he could to help her with the pain, and was soon at her side with a damp cloth on her forehead and his hand clutched in hers. He had never delivered a baby before and was just about as clueless on what to do when one was about to be delivered. He just waited by her side, holding her hand in his as he stayed by her side. He never thought months before that he would be kneeling next to sky and their child, but that didn't matter now. His family was becoming full.

"Cain...you're here..." Sky was happy that at least someone was there, that she wasn't alone. She took gasping breaths, almost as if the air was hard to come by. The baby was moving frantically within her, finally sensing that freedom was near.
Sky let out a piercing screech, echoing in every mind in a ten mile radius. The baby was struggling, letting her power run amok within Sky. Mostly emotional pain, adding on to the physical pain of labor. Sky didn't realize this, but she was sharing her pain with everyone in her reach. Her power had gone haywire and was let loose among the minds of the Nightmares. Contractions rolled through her, arching her body up painfully as she screamed.
Why was giving birth so painful?! It felt her body was being torn apart and her mind about to explode. Was this the baby's power? Through all the pain, a small part of Sky took comfort in the feel of Cain's hand grasping hers. She wished Rose could be here to see her niece. But she needed to get through this first. Tears streamed down her cheeks as Sky endured the pain of bringing a new life into the world that very well might destroy it.

Cain winced as he felt both Sky's and the power of something else gripping his mind. He enjoyed the sounds of the screams that came from outside the room, knowing that whatever Sky was feeling at that moment everyone else was to. He gripped her hand, wondering how he would be able to help deliver their child. He wasn't sure what the baby would be, but he knew that he was going to be there to see the child into the new world.
"Yes, my love, I'm here. I'm not leaving you."
He continued to keep the damp rag against her forehead, dipping it in water to help wipe the sweat from her face. She looked beautiful to him, even as she screamed in pain while their child fought to get out. He leaned in and kissed his love's forehead, placing his hand against her cheek as she was attacked by the pain of delivering their child. He wished someone would be here to help deliver the baby, otherwise he would have to figure out what to do on his own. He could kill innocence, destroy cities and towns, but when it came to delivering a baby, he was clueless.

The two wanted others to be there to help.... But there was one thing they didn't realize. They wouldn't want just anyone. Shadow was not someone you wanted there when in childbirth. She'd have no sympathy for them, her only concern being stop the assault on her ears. And right now? That really was her only concern! Stop the screaming so she wouldn't be disturbed any longer.
Shadow knew what was happening. It was obvious. Sky was due in the next few days, after all. Now adding the fact that her mind was under attack with psychic screams.... Well everyone knew what was going on. And Shadow was not happy about it.
She stalked down the corridors with an annoyed scowl, anything in her path being blown out of the way long before she even reached them. When she arrived at Sky's room, the doors just near tore off the handles from the force. "Control yourself, Sky! Else I contact the Elders right here and now!" She didn't care that Sky was in pain. All she cared about was not having to clean up any dead bodies. They were already short on numbers to begin with.

Sky took gasping breaths and starting murmuring calming things to the baby girl, who was kicking and struggling. Somehow, it seemed to work. The baby calmed and Sky's emotions started coming down. But she could still feel the contractions. It was time to bear down. When Shadow came in, Sky gave her a scathing look.
"Well, you're not the one giving birth here, Shadow. It was the baby's powers that affected me. She's already powerful..." Another contraction rolled through her and Sky moaned again, having breathing exercises to help with the birth. Slowly, she picked herself up and started moving towards the bathroom, hunched over with her hands clutching her belly. She needed to change into her robe. Closing the door behind her, she quickly pulled her shirt over her head and undressed herself, completely naked for a few moments. Soon, she draped her robe around her pregnant self and walked back to her bed, focusing on breathing in and out. This baby would be here in less than an hour...
Sky crawled back into her bed, easing herself onto her back and spreading her legs out. The contractions were unrelenting! They were about two minutes apart and she cried out as another racked her body with discomfort. Closing her eyes, Sky focused on her breathing and posture as contractions continued...one....two....three...they were closer together! The baby was faster than she thought...

Cain didn't say much as Shadow scolded Sky, leaving the two to battle that out themselves. When Sky stood up to get ready, he was beside her every step of the way, helping her get herself dressed in her robes and back to the bed. He never left Sky's side from the moment he came into the room. What stuck with him was Sky saying their baby was already a powerful mutant. How powerful exactly he wasn't sure, but from Sky's reactions to the birth and her powers going haywire, he had a feeling his daughter would easily take him on without problems.
"Calm yourself child, your time is near but you must be patient."
He placed his hand on Sky's stomache as he spoke, feeling his daughter moving inside of him. How would this child look? Would she have his hair, Sky's eyes and facial features? He smirked at the idea of her having silver hair like his, but couldn't help but wonder how Shadow would feel at her neice having her hair color and no doubt the same length in the future. He leaned down and kissed her stomache.
"I no nothing about bringing a child in this world, but I'll stay by your side, my love."

Shadow rolled her eyes, thinking that both Sky and Cain were being ridiculous. They’d known this would happen! And yet they were acting like illogical, panic stricken… well Parents! Oh shit… They were going to be parents. Why did that knowledge seem to crash down on her so hard? The next generation of Nightshades… And Milena. Finally… Two of the Ancient families had merged. After so many generations…
Wait… She… The baby was a girl? Shadow hadn’t paid any attention to Sky’s pregnancy, never bothering to find out if it was a girl or boy. What were they going to name the baby? And what name would she take? Milena or Nightshade? After all, Sky and Cain weren’t married!
Wait a minute! Why was she thinking about all these things right when Sky was giving birth?
Finally, Shadow sighed, shaking her head and entering the room fully. Several objects lifting into the air and moving as she did. Pillows stacked up behind Sky, Sky moved only enough that the pillows could be propped up.
Next order of business? Find something for Cain to do. With a dark look at him, she moved to the bed side. A moment passed and her gaze slowly turned to the few things he’d randomly grabbed. Pain killers, a bowl of water and a damp towel… Shadow smirked, shaking her head and forcing the laughter to stay inside. Really, men were hopeless. “Painkillers aren’t going to help. It’s far too late for any epidural.” A short pause. “We need more towels than that, idiot. Do you want blood all over the sheets? Get hot water, not warm, not burning.” She’d actually said ‘we’ there! It was set, Shadow was there to help, even if she was being a bitch about it. “Get them now.” She gave him a hard look, as if daring him not to. After all, Shadow was the one who knew what to do! Even if she was a mass murderer, she was still a woman…
Finally, Shadow returned her attention to Sky, sighing. Yelling at Sky more was a bad idea. “Sky, you need to relax, deep breaths. Forget the pain.” In her mind? Sky was making the contractions sound worse than they were. Sky was a telepath after all! She could make herself ignore pain!

Cain focused his attention on Shadow as she continued to speak. Was she ordering him around? What made her think she could order him around like some common pup? She was the master of the Nightmares of course, that's why. They needed more towels and hot water, and Cain wasn't sure on what to do since he wasn't leaving Sky's side for a moment.
It was then Cain thought of an idea. He held his hand up towards the air, and within a few seconds his hand disappeared. A few seconds after more towels flew out from the bathroom and landed in a neat pile next to Shadow and Sky. As Cain's hand returned to normal, he brought it down and placed a finger in the bowl of water. His hand became liquid like the water, and within moments steam began to rise from the bowl.
"Nice of you to join us finally."
He smirked at Shadow, knowing that he had just did a little showing off of his own powers. He returned his attention to Sky, not saying a word as Shadow took over the delivery. He wondered about the name they would give, and which last name they should use. Of course his grandmother would have a fit if he didn't give the child Milena as the last name, but what of the first?
