If this didn't make a recipe for a edgy scene, he wasn't sure what did. He didn't even know how this happened. Xavier had not only allowed Apocalypse into the mansion freely, but Magneto as well. Both were doing their best to help Rose, though Ian wasn't sure why. Apocalypse would use his powers to slow whatever was inside her, and Magneto would try to remove them with his powers now and then.
It was working until her condition began to grow critical, then both of them agreed to stop for a while. This continued on for almost a week, and even now they were no more close to getting it out of her than they were when he brought her in. Apocalypse said he may have a solution back at his lab, so he left. The only one in there now was Magneto, but he just looked at Ian and Rose from time to time, and Ian couldn't help but wonder if he was doing this because Rose was a mutant, or if he had other reasons. Ian took her hand in his, having never left her side since they arrived. He would speed off for food now and then, but as always come back. It was getting to the point where people wondered if he ever left at all.
The heart monitor continued it's steady beep, beep, beep while the other machines monitered Rose and whatever was inside her. Ian just continued to hold her hand, staring at her and praying that she'd pull through.

It seemed like the nanomachines were intent on changing, or killing, her, because no matter what Apocalypse AND Magneto did, nothing worked. You would think the master of metal could just remove the mechanical(and obviously METAL) devices with out breaking a sweat. Actually, he probably could, but there was a dilemma. If he just took them out with out a care in the world, he'd probably kill her. The little machines were everywhere, attached to vital organs. Basically, if they weren't careful in removing the buggers, it was lights out for Rose.
Sadly... They were running out of time.
Rose grew steadily worse with each passing day. During the time, she had yet to even be coherent enough to make conversation. Even a telepath wouldn't have been able to communicate with her at these times. If they tried, all they'd feel was agony. Pure agony. Anyone that thought this process of 'change or die' would be painless would be sadly mistaken...
At the moment, Rose was heavily sedated, probably just to make sure Ian didn't go into a frantic panic from knowing she was in pain. She maintained a fever that had Hazel beyond worried, and drove the Nurse to get a Pyromancer(Freya to be specific) to come every so often to force the fever back down. The girl kept slipping in and out of consciousness, but as of yet hadn't been aware enough to.... well actually be aware! To be honest, she didn't even know she was at the school!
Today though... Today was different.
The constant beeping was the first thing that registered in Rose's mind. Then a pressure on one of her hands. Slowly she dug herself towards awareness, the girl giving little to no signs that might alert Ian that she was coming to. Finally though, her eyes opened, slowly blinking. All she saw was the bright ceiling lights of the Infirmary, with no idea where she was, or how she got to this unknown place.

It was a literal circus in the infirmary. Between Magneto, Apocalypse, Hazel and Freya, it was a wonder this place stayed empty some days. Ian wished there was something he could do, something that would allow him to get rid of whatever was inside of her. From what Magneto said, it was some sort of machine that had attatched itself to her insides. He didn't know what that meant, but it sure wasn't good.
The more he thought about Rose, the more he thought about all the times they spent together. It nearly broke his heart fearing that they would never spend anymore days like that with each other again. He wanted her to keep fighting, to live and come back to him. What angered him about all of this was that Cain was behind it all. The thought of that man hurting Rose again drove him to almost hunting the man down. The only thing that kept him there was her.
It wasn't until her eyes began to open that he realized she was coming to. A sad smile form on his face as his caring eyes watched hers. When her eyes were fully open, he reached a hand out and touched her hair lightly, squeezing her hand just to let her know someone was by her side.
"Hey Rose."

Rose was still trying to make sense of everything. She was in a room, obviously. Whether it was in a hospital, or Apocalypse's lab, or the school, she didn't know. Just that the constant beeping didn't reassure her. Next, questions started to form. Where was she? How long had she been out? Where was Ian?
It seemed her last question was already answered, because it was right about that moment that the hand holding her own squeezed a little tighter as another softly touched her hair. Instinctively she turned her head in that direction, knowing she'd see the person by doing so. She met his gaze just as he spoke.
It took Rose several moments to realize he'd said anything to begin with, but that could be blamed on her current condition. She might be aware, but that didn't mean it came easily. The combination of sedatives, pain, and fever made it difficult to stay aware. ".... Hey..." She sounded much like you'd expect from someone who was slowly dieing, voice unable to raise above a whisper, cracking slightly from lack of use.
"... How bad...?" She wanted to know. To know how bad she was... And hoped Ian wouldn't water it down for her own sake.

Ian had to fight back tears hard, to be strong for her sake. How could he tell her that they couldn't find a way to save her? That the only thing keeping her alive were the very same two mutants that the school fought against many times over. He held her hand in both of his as he looked into her eyes, almost seeing how weak she was feeling as if it was through her.
"You're...it's..." he did his best to find the right words, "They're doing their best, but you're goint to be fine. I know you will."
In his mind Ian kept telling himself she would be ok, that one day she would get up and be ready for anything like she use to. In his heart, however, was nothing but a fading hope. A hope he held onto for dear life, as if letting it go would mean letting go of everything. He wished there was something he could do, but all his efforts of finding a solution ended up a dead end. As he stated, the only thing keeping her alive and...well Rose, was Apocalypse and Magneto, but not even they knew how much longer their efforts would pay off.

Ian wasn't telling her everything, she knew that much, but she couldn't exactly blame him. He'd already seen Rose die once before, having to watch a second time... And she did know she was dieing from his reaction. "Sorry..... For what I.... did before...." He'd lost his memories because of her. Well, it looked like they were even now, both having caused some traumatic event in the other's life.
Now that she knew she was.... well, dying, and there was nothing they could do to stop it, she was suddenly very angry. Thankfully, the anger wasn't exactly hers, it was the nanomachines doing, feeding her negative emotions, probably thinking that if they made her angry enough she'd stop fighting and flip to Cain's side. Or at least cause a lot of problems for those around her if she didn't flip. And strangely... her powers weren't all that affected by her dying, if anything they'd been heightened since this all began.
"Dammit.... Not.... Now..." The girl tried to smothered the anger that was building, knowing she might hurt Ian if she had another episode. She squeezed her eyes shut, as if thinking it would help. The whole room started to feel heavy as she strained to stop her powers from going out of control.
Ian probably didn't know the 'terms' the nanomachines had given her. Actually, it was unlikely anyone but Apocalypse knew, and he probably only knew that she had explosions of uncontrolled power every so often. So, it would be no surprise if Ian was shocked by the whole thing...

"It's ok, Rose, I should actually be thanking you for saving us."
He smiled though her words and the sound of her voice made it hard for him to fight the tears that wanted so bad to escape. He gave her a curious look when she made her comment, closing her eyes tight as she did.
"Rose? What's wrong? What's happening?"
His looked changed to worry as he felt the room beginning to grow heavy. He began to wonder if she was having another attack and wanted to get the others. Unfortunately his need to be by her side kept him there. He'd faced things with and against Rose, he wasn't going to let an episode cause him to go running from the room. He failed to protect her twice already, he would be damed if there was going to be a third time. He took her hand in both of his, squeezing it gently.
"Stay with me, Rose. I'll find a way to get you free of this, I swear it."
The change in atmosphere was hard for him to deal with, but he did his best to shrug it off. He was crushed by her powers once before and survived, so why bother trying to avoid this one if he can?

Rose whimpered as she fought back her uncontrolled power. It wasn't working, and before Ian, or anyone else who might come running in to see what was going on, could do anything, everything seemed to explode.... Then go dark.
Dark matter was everywhere, tearing into anything it could. Somehow Rose managed to at least stop herself from hurting any people. She knew that if she'd let her powers go after a person.... It'd probably send her into a blood lust, and everything would be over.
A strength that wasn't possible for someone dying filled her, the girl squeezing his hand tightly, as if she might lose him if she didn't. To be honest, she could have lost her sanity if she'd been alone. Her eyes shot open, her natural honey brown eye color replaced with a blood thirsty red. It was beyond unnerving. It absolutely horrifying to anyone that was watching, because it just might tell them that something else was going here... If her sudden strength and explosive show of power hadn't already. What was even worse, she herself looked absolutely terrified... And mad. The look.... Would remind people of Cain...

Ian wasn't sure on what to think, but he knew something was going wrong. Everything went dark and the next thing he knew the sounds of destruction was happening all around him. He felt her squeeze his hand tightly and he responded in kind, holding onto her for fear of losing her if he let go.
What worried her was the look on her face. The red eyes and look of hatred sent chills down his spine, yet he knew it was familiar. Rose looked both angry and scared, but the look on his face reminded her of Cain. The amount of anger and hate coming from her filled him with that same dread that Cain did.
"Rose, hold on ok? Please. We'll find a way out of this."
He cursed himself on the inside, not knowing what exactly they would be able to find that would get her free from whatever or whoever had this grip on her. All he knew was that he wasn't going to leave her side again, even if it meant following her around the world. He knew he couldn't lose hope, he loved Rose more than anything and he wasn't planning on losing her again.

The destruction only lasted a few seconds, but to Rose? It felt like hours. Slowly things settled back down, until finally stopping all together. A few moments after that, and her eyes returned to normal. All in all? If it weren't for the fresh damage, you wouldn't have known anything had happened.
Rose gasped for breath, her fever back with a vengeance. She closed her eyes once again, this time more from exhaustion. All her energy was thrown into the sudden outbursts of her power, which would probably explain why her power was amplified.
A few moments of silence followed, until she finally reopened her feverish eyes to look at Ian. "I'm.... Sorry..." She still panted softly. "I never wanted... You to see.... What he'd done.... To me...." Her eyes closed again, her iron grip on his hand relaxing a little. Other then her soft panting, the girl remained silent, not really sure what else to say... She could hear the laughing of a mad man in the background, one she wished she could strangle.
"It's getting worse. You know what to do to stop it.."
Rose's eyes opened yet again. Slowly, she looked at Ian, that same fear in her sickly gaze. "It's not safe.... To be here... Keep getting... Worse. Until... Nothing left..." She paused for only a moment. "If I.... Stay here..... He'll make me.... Kill everyone."

What seemed like complete destruction of the lab only turned out to be a few damaged equipment and some small fires. Ian quickly went to work on the fires, returning to Rose's side as soon as he was done, his hands holding hers once more. When she mentioned Cain doing something to her, he held her hand tightly.
"It's alright Rose, we'll fix what he did to you soon enough, just hang in there ok?"
His eyes widened in fear as her eyes closed and her grip on his hand loosened. He held her hand to his, closing his eyes as the tears he fought were beginning to win, making their way down his cheeks and onto his jeans. When Rose opened her eyes again, he couldn't help but smile sadly, glad that she was still ok. His smile faded once her heard her words.
"Don't say that, Rose, he's not going to win. He's not going to make you kill anybody. All we need is a little more information about what's happening to you."
All the information you'll need to stop him. Those words, as if on cue, echoed in his mind. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the flashdrive, the same one Rose had given him. As he stared at it, his eyes widened and a large smile grew on his face. The man on the hologram said it had everything he needed to fight Cain.
"All the information I need...of course!" he almost made the stool he was sitting on skid across the room as he stood up. Taking Rose's hand in his, he kissed her wrist and looked to her, renewed hope in his eyes, "Rose, I'll be right back. I promise.". Without another word, he shot down the hall and into the main computer room of the mansion. It was time to put the information to the test.

Ian didn't understand at all. He didn't know what was happening to her. Sadly, no one but her and Cain knew. Seconds felt like hours, until the hallucinations returned. It was Cain, obviously, come to taunt her once more. He wasn't alone this time though. Sky was with him, and Shadow.... And her 'true' parents. Basically? Everyone in her life that had thought she was a disappointment for not being a 'true Nightshade'. She couldn't understand anything they said.... Except one thing.
"Giving up suits you. One less obstacle in my path."
Her eyes shot open as realization hit. That was his plan all along. Cain had known she'd go mad, and then die... Changing to his side had just been something to keep her on the path to death. He'd known they'd never find a way to save her in time. Curse him... CURSE HIM!
The explosion that followed was huge, completely obliterating everything in the room. The wall had actually been blown across the infirmary in one large piece to plow through yet another wall before crumbling. Amazingly, no one was caught in the destruction, Hazel having left only a few short minutes before.
Rose pulled herself to her feet, her body suddenly alive with her raging fury. She no longer looked like a girl that was dieing. Instead... She looked like someone with the intent to kill, her pale and feverish glow hidden by a dark hatred.

"Come on...come on I know you're in there."
The information the man in the hologram gave Ian flooded the screen. He was looking for something that had to do with the nanobites and it was a little harder than he thought. He had reached the file that would most likely help him find out how to help Rose when the explosion occured. It shocked Ian to the point of falling down hard onto the flood. He was stunned for a short moment, then groaned as he got up. The explosion came from the infirmary where he had left Rose. Within seconds, forgetting about the computer, he sped down the hall to where Rose was.
"Rose?"
There she stood among the wreckage of the infirmary, standing with the look of pure hatred in her eyes. He'd seen that look only once before, when she turned into her demon form and assaulted Nightmare Island. He cautiously walked up to her, hoping that her anger wouldn't cloud her from remembering who people were.
"Rose, please stop. I think I've found a way to help you, but you need to calm down and trust me ok? Please bare with me for just a few minutes?"

Rose didn't recognize Ian, as if some part of her was blocking her memory of him... It wouldn't be hard to guess what. The nanobites were the ones to blame, as if they knew seeing him could calm her. And they didn't want that one bit. After all, if she stayed in a blind rage long enough, what were the chances of ever coming out?
So what did she see? A threat. Someone that would get in her way and try to stop her. Instantly her wrath was directed towards him, dark matter slamming into him with enough force to send him flying. "You're in the way..." Her voice had gone eerie quiet.
She started to head for the exit, but each step was a struggle. Even with her anger fueling her will, it wasn't enough to keep her going for long. The weaker her body got, the more furious she became, the girl trying to surround herself in dark matter to keep herself moving. She'd only just reached the hall when she collapse, coughing up blood. The Dark matter faded away. "Dammit..." She stared down at her now bloodied hands... Before blacking out.

"Not again..."
As soon as Rose looked at him and spoke, he knew that something was wrong. Sure enough he found himself launched through the air and hitting the ground, bouncing a couple times befor landing. He was sure that he had broken a few bones this time, or at least fracured one or two, but as he struggled to get up, he noticed that he was alright. He smiled, taking a few steps before it finally hit him.
"Nope...didn't think so."
He should've thought about the last few times Rose had attacked him, and each time she made sure he couldn't get up. As he took a few steps, he felt himself blacking out. His vision blurred and blacked out as his body collapsed to the floor. His head made a thunk against the hard floor as his body laid there a few feet from Rose. From the computer room, the screen finished it's work looking through the files, and finally showed the results Ian was looking for. The information future Ian had against the nanobites infection appeared and the counter-agent now flashed on the screen. The only thing it needed was someone who could get it working.
