Max was astonished by what he saw, hard, dense filing cabinets all packed into a room and when he heard Crystal's adolescent voice echo through the room, or rather the thought of her adolescent voice. The filing cabinets moving all around, the one that opened quickly to reveal a file, a very thin file, almost too thin. It opened and displayed catastrophic amounts of information on such small print he could barely make out the words that he could see before him on the crisp white paper that was before him. The pages went too fast for him to even see he just caught one or two words every god knows how many pages.
He blinked when it slowed down to the page where Max and Sam first met in the small cafe, when Max demanded that Sam take those stolen books back. In the alleyway where they kissed and cuddled for the very first time. He sighed at the memory, it felt so long ago since that happened. The illusion all faded, he looked at Crystal and thought that no one person should be able to access that much information at will, nor that quickly. Even if she didn't want to know about it and she just thought, it'd be there, instantly, near infinite knowledge at her very fingertips.
It made his powers seem kind of weak, even the one power that he didn't want anyone to know about, not even Sam knew and he'd tell Sam pretty much anything, except for his new power, that was something he kept a secret and since he could either use it or not use it at will, it was pretty easy to keep a secret unless it backfired on him. This rarely happened but probably only because he rarely used it. He only used it if he was scared or desperately needed to. He's never used it in the danger room and didn't intend to, it was his secret power that neither his siblings, Sam nor Xavier knew about, although he guessed that maybe Crystal might know unless since it's just in his thoughts and no one really sees it, she might not be able to access that tiny bit of information.
"Wow, that's a bit more power than i expected admittedly." Mac tried to take it all in, it took a few seconds and he managed to dismiss it. Max grew shocked at how he'd just deeply upset an emotionally unstable person, although the thankful thing was that his power wasn't offensive so at least Max had the upper hand on the power part, maybe even the martial arts side but he had no idea whether he had guns, grenades, or whether he didn't have any kind of weapon at all. In which case Max thought that he wouldn't be too hard to handle, although he did feel guilty about upsetting someone who was emotionally unstable, he felt he deserved it.
Even though thing, nor object was as bad as a many offensive names that he could think of. In fact there were tens of names that he thought were much worse than thing and object. Max thought it a bit weird, glare and then look into your hand, but Max guessed that this must be how his power worked, even if it did look kinda silly when he used it, just standing there looking at his hand.
Although Max accepted that it would be a lot more useful in terms of staying alive, you could see your death and then change it, all Max could do was try to move through a wall or move it away. Max however didn't appreciate being called a kid by his very own boy friend. But he did realise that it was to protect him, although he could have laid off the punk thing and being an x-student wasn't exactly a really bad thing, Max didn't even think being a brother was particularly a bad thing, he mainly saw all factions as basically religions, everyone has their own beliefs and they join the group that best fits those beliefs.
Although this was a bit more extreme than who's better jews or hindus. It was more like, one team kills, the other team protects. Which very much proved the idea of the war that was currently going on, Max didn't start the war but he knew that it was on and if it came down to it, he knew that he would kill. Even though it went against every instinct he had in his body, he knew he would. It'd be the only way that he could survive. He looked at Sam.
"Don't worry baby, i can take care of myself." He soon realised that he couldn't actually see Channer anymore, one of Sam's illusions he concluded and sighed. It was nice to think that Sam was protecting him but it was still nice to be able to kick someone's arse every now and again. Even if it was someone with a non-offensive power. It was still sometimes fun to feel more dominant than another person, one of the very basic human instincts that had always been around, there has always had to be a leader, ever since cavemen and their tribes.
Everyone always had a leader, the HMF had Travis Kardde, the X-Men had Professor Charles Xavier and the Brotherhood had Apocalypse. Even though there were no HMF members present, they were a faction that he feared, they could give information about him to anyone, or even send someone on him to satisfy the hit that someone had lay on him. He wasn't exactly very popular at the moment, his room mates hated him, some she-devil hated him and some future seeing brother hated him, he really needed some allies but he sighed, he'd find some later.
