"But..."
He gave her a curious look when she told him not to tell her what the plan was. When she elaborated on her abilities though, he began to understand. Telling her about anything would make her untrustworthy with it. One question and the perfect plan would be completely ruined before it even started.
"Well before anything happens, we both need our rest. I'm about to pass out anyway."
The loss, the infection, his attempts to escape, even talking was wearing down on his energy. He didn't even say much else after he spoke about it, just rested his head against the cold rock wall, which seemed to feel more comfortable the more he rested against it. Who knew that stone could feel like a bed in the right circumstances.
"Just need..." he yawned, "a little rest."
He rested his head back and closed his eyes, falling into a deep sleep. What neither of them realized was Cain had incidentally impaled him through one of his kidneys. Ian's body slumped against the wall, then moved to rest against the bars of the cell. His shirt, which had once been completely blue, was now almost soaked with red.

Crystal almost rolled her eyes when he tried to argue with her. "After all... I'm only here to answer questions... No doubt they'll be asking everything imaginable." She wasn't there for someone's amusement, like Ian. She'd been grabbed purely for her skills.
She just nodded when he said they need to rest. How would he know she needed sleep anyway? He certainly needed it after his attack, but Crystal had only overused her power. Sure, she wished she still had the device Apocalypse had made for her, but breaking it was the best thing she could do right now. It would stall them from interrogating her to much. Ian was already in a deep slumber, while Crystal just sat there in the corner, her half closed gaze staring off into the distance. She didn't go to sleep though, it was more like she was in a daze. She just wished she was a telepath, so she could tell Apocalypse herself that she was sorry...
She didn't sleep. Not even for a few moments, for two reasons. The first being she just couldn't sleep. The second being if she could tire herself out even more they couldn't question her. Everything she was doing now was purely to hinder Cain and Shadow's plan to use her...

Shadow had decided to give the two the night to 'settle in' to their new home. Sometime after midnight though she'd had one of the medical experts among the group go down and properly bandage and care for Ian. They didn't want him dying from blood loss or organ failure after all! When the Nightmare went down, he noticed that Crystal was still awake, and just watched him as he carted Ian off for medical treatment, bringing him back a few hours later and throwing him back into his cell like a rag doll.
Come morning though, it was down to business. Cain was no where in sight, probably off with Sky and their newborn, so everything had been left up to her. She wanted to know just how far you could push Crystal, just how much her infinite knowledge knew.
It was near seven am when Crystal was taken from her cell and off into one of the interrogation rooms at the far end of the 'dungeon', left to collect her thoughts for another hour before Shadow went to begin. To pass the time, Shadow decided to go visit her late cousin's little friend.
She unlocked his cell, but was sure to keep her power active on the spot, repelling anything that tried to pass, in case he mustered the strength to make a run for it, though he was unconscious still. She crouched down in front of him, tilting her head ever so slightly as she watched him with her blood thirsty eyes. "Ian Snyder, it's time to wake up."

Ian was dreaming at the time. In his dreams he was standing there with Rose, it was on their first date and he was just about to give her the goodnight kiss. Suddenly he winced and looked down at his side and saw the , then looked up to see that Rose had changed to Lily. Her horrified face as she ran away, leaving him to fall and Cain to collect him. It wasn't until he heard a voice cutting through his dream to wake him up. He stirred with a groan before he opened his eyes.
"Crystal...?" he opened his eyes and saw Shadow looking down on him. He groaned and looked up at the ceiling, "Great, go from dreaming about oz to waking up and seeing the wicked of the west. Shouldn't you be scaring small children somewhere?"
He knew it wasn't the smartest thing to say to the leader of the Nightmares, but he didn't care at the moment. He knew that with her around, getting out wouldn't be easy, if nothing but impossible. He looked around and couldn't find Crystal, wondering if they had taken her away like she feared they would.

It's only taken one round of prodding to make Ian wake, and when he did, Shadow was smirking, as if finding it the most amusing thing ever. She really did have a sick sense of humor. "Crystal? Oh, you mean the girl. I'm sorry, she's being prepared for interrogations." The way she said the word interrogations wouldn't relief him. If anything it would probably make him worry for the girls life. Her tone made it sound exactly as the word was meant to be, extracting information from a subject, by any means necessary. And Shadow wasn't above torturing a child.
His attempt at insulting her made her scoff. "Oh, don't worry, I'll go back to traumatizing your little friend soon enough. But I thought it'd be much more wonderful if you were awake to enjoy the show. I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss it, and no doubt it'll relief her knowing that you're there to share her pain." Though her smile was obviously meant as 'cheerful, it was twisted, distorted to give an even more stomach dropping feeling then her usual sinister smirks. "Not to mention you won't be able to have your own fun until that wound of yours heals up a little, so I thought you'd like to at least hear a small taste of what's to come."
His injury had been properly taken care of the night before, though he hadn't seemed to notice yet, so it would only be a day or two until he was fit for their little games.

"You do anything to her, and I swear I'll make your own life a nightmare."
Yes it was a vain threat, but coming out of a daze, it was the best he could do. When she spoke of having him watch the torment that Crystal was going through, he did the only thing he could do at the moment. Working up enough spit into his mouth while she talked, he spit a large glob of saliva onto the side of her face. He smirked at the look.
"You should keep that. Makes you look less ugly."
He struggled to sit up, though he was sure that he wouldn't be able to stand. He touched his side, seeing that there was no more . Somebody must've taken care of him while he was out, unfortunately it meant he wasn't able to stop them from taking Crystal. He had to stall for time to regain his strength, but he wasn't sure how he would be able to do it.
"Come on Shadow, you like kicking people when they're down, why wait? Let's have some fun, just you and me. You'll have Crystal all to yourself once I'm gone, so why not have your fun now? Unless you're ego is too big for even you to life at this point."

"My life a Nightmare?" Shadow was smirking her absolute darkest now. "Boy, do you even know the meaning behind that word? Don't worry, you'll know soon enough. When he spit on her though... Her face went from dark to down right terrifying. The wad stopped in mid air, right before touching her clear skin. "You rat. You dare try to taint me with your disgusting saliva?"
Her words seemed to echo, and it was obvious, whatever was about to happen.. It wasn't good. Suddenly, Ian was in the air, slamming against the wall, pressed against it so tightly he'd find it hard to breath. He'd probably realize to that this wasn't the first time he'd felt this sensation. The first time was when Rose had near killed him in her blind rage. He was now facing the woman who had taught Rose how to do that. She slowly stood from her crouch, the definition utter fury. "If Sky didn't already have claim to your life, I would have killed you myself long before now. But death is to good for you. I'm going to make you suffer, but I don't want you dying on me. If you weren't already hurt now believe me, you'd be the one in there right now."
Shadow turned on her heels, leaving the cell, the door swinging shut and locking behind her without anyone touching it. Finally, the pressure against Ian lightened, letting him drop back to the ground. "Enjoy today, Ian Snyder. For tomorrow you will finally learn why we are the Nightmares of this world."

He smirked as he realized he had just gotten to her. He felt himself rising into the air, then slamming against the rock wall. He gritted his teeth as the pointed edges seemed to dig into his skin, the force holding him was more then a little familiar to him. He looked to Shadow as she spoke to him, then turning on her heals and leaving him there for a moment before he finally could feel himself lowering down to the floor. He dropped down, coughing and breathing air.
"well...that went well." he said, moving to sit himself up as the footsteps of Shadow echoed down the hall. At least he managed to by Crystal time, which was the good news. The bad news is that he would have to deal with Shadow pushing him around, and he had a feeling it would be literally. He looked around the dungeon, trying to see Crystal.
"Crystal. Hey Crystal, you there?" He waited to hear her voice before continuing, "Hope you saw that performance. How did I do? I thought I did pretty good honestly. Bought you some time off of Shadow's schedule. With any luck I'll have her in my hand in no time."
Or she'll have my head on a spike he thought to himself.

Shadow left Ian after those last words of hers, heading off to where Crystal was being held. Just because he'd stalled her for a short time didn't mean she wouldn't go to start interrogating Crystal. All he'd done was thoroughly piss Shadow off... Which wasn't a good thing considering who all that anger would be taken out on.
Crystal was strapped onto a long board, in the room at the end of the hall, the doorway visible to Ian but nothing inside. She heard him calling out to her, but didn't dare respond, just listened to what he said, before looking away from the doorway, her heart sinking a little. Reaching out, she stuck a piece of information into his head, as if he were recalling something she'd said the previous night, but it was obviously her own thought being carried. You didn't buy me time. You just pissed her off.
Whether he'd realize what that meant was a mystery. After the message was sent though, everything started to happen at once. At first, it was just simple questions, useless information to Shadow but obviously a way to test and see if she really did have the infinite amount of information everyone though. The more serious the questions became, the more she tried to avoid answering. The first time she was able to give a wrong answer(By forcing herself to recall the question differently) a high pitched scream shattered through the previously silent cells.

Great, he didn't mean for that to happen. Well he did mean to her off, just wasn't expecting her to take her out on Crystal. He didn't hear anything after she told him, but when she screamed he felt his heart tearing apart. He silently cursed himself as he ran up to the cell, hoping Crystal would see him, but he didn't see anything.
"That's it, we're getting out of here."
He spoke softly to himself, reaching down by the door again. This time he made sure to time it, though he didn't want to. He made sure to shake the door every time there was a scream or loud noise coming from anywhere that might be helpful in blocking it out. Each time he shook it harder and faster, causing the cells to continue their soft humming and vibrations. It wasn't long until he heard a small creak, causing him to stop. He looked at the door and noticed that it was raised a bit.
With the right strength, it could be lifted.
He smiled, remembering those words, "Crystal, you're a genius." speaking softly as he went back to work.

The torment went on for almost an hour, sometimes the screams would stop for a few minutes, when Crystal couldn't stop the real answer from coming. But every time she found a loophole, Ian would hear her punishment. Finally though Shadow had stopped, noticing Crystal was nearing an overload. She'd only managed to get half the information needed to create a new device, which made her want to push Crystal harder, but they didn't know what would happen if you pushed her once she'd had an overload.
Shadow had left the interrogation room first, her gaze watching Ian as she passed him, eyes cold as ice, and then she was completely out of sight, heading up to the upper levels. A few more minutes and a man, the one who had taken Crystal that morning, was leading a very weak and dazed Crystal back down the the cell next to Ian's. He wasn't at all gentle when he pushed her inside, just locked the cell door and left the same way Shadow had.
Crystal huddled in the spot she'd landed, hugging her limbs to her as tightly as possible, eyes shut tight to stop herself from crying. Sure, she might be emotionless some of the time, but she was still a kid. A kid who'd just been tortured every time she managed to avoid a question.

He continued to work at the door, smiling as he had managed to get the door at least half way unhinged. He then heard footsteps coming down the hall, and immediately he went to work putting rocks under the door to prop it up. He continued to sit there even as Shadow passed by him.
"Hey ugly, we get food down here? I can't really be tortured on an empty stomache."
He smirked at her as she headed up the hallway, a few minutes another member came dragging down Crystal and throwing her into the cell. It gave him an idea that may work, but he had to be quick and clever about it.
"Hey do we get food down here? I'm hungry."
"Quiet you, or I'll do some torturing of my own on you." the man said.
"Aw come on man, it's not like we got anything better to do. I got an idea, how about we have a little arm wrestling competition, you and me." Ian spoke while walking up to the door, causing the man to reach in and grab his shirt, slamming him against the bars.
"If you weren't needed for entertainment, I'd kill you myself." the man gritted through his teeth.
"ok...no problem guy, relax."
Ian patted the mans side quickly, then watched as he left and smiled. He looked at his hand, seeing the key he had "borrowed" from the man. He chuckled, moving over to where Crystal was, a worried look on his face.
"Crystal, you ok? Hey, we're getting out of here soon so don't worry." he smiled, holding the key in front of her, "I just bought us a ticket home."

Crystal completely ignored the confrontation between Ian and the male interrogator. It didn't concern her at all, Ian was just baiting everyone he could. Maybe because he knew they wouldn't kill him, or maybe he was just wanting to see how much prodding it would take to make them forget about not killing him. Either way, it was a stupid idea, all he'd do was keep pushing until his wound reopened. And if that happened, she doubted they'd take care of the wound again.
"You're just going to reopen your wounds if you keep this up..." He'd already taken some abuse from Shadow, it wouldn't take much to reopen them, or so she'd assume.
She huddled there a few more moments, before sighing and rolling to her feet, the fact that she could recover from the torture so quickly... Well it definitely was an astonishing thing, but completely normal for her. Like her emotions, her sense of pain was dulled, so she was able to recover from things far faster then a normal person. If she were anyone else, she probably wouldn't be standing. "I'm fine. Just needed time to recover." She slowly looked back to his own cell, the one right next to hers as he held out the key he'd stolen. Her expression remained blanked. "So I'm guessing you're not going to wait for the X-men's rescue?" She finally smirked a little. "Do you even have the strength to get out of here?" She pointed to his side, where the bandaged wound was. "You were hurt only yesterday. If you agitate it to much you're just going to make it worse again."

"Why wait for a rescue when we can make our own escape?"
He gave her a small wink, then when she gestured to his side he looked down and saw his wound. It had only healed slightly, which meant he couldn't move anywhere just yet, but it gave him more time to plan. What he needed was help, eyes that went outside the cell. He looked to Crystal and smiled.
"We'll stay one more day, but that means we'll have to stick around for some some more, but if it works, we'll be out in no time."
He looked around until he found a spot to hide the key. He then looked to Crystal and made a circle motion with his finger, signaling her to turn around. When he was sure she had his back to him, he hid the key in the far corner of his cell. Then another look to Crystal and he picked up a light piece of metal and threw it down the dungeon.
"There. Now I just gotta heal up, then I unhinge the door, grab the key, grab you and we're out of here."
He smiled and looked to her, knowing that if they were interrogated about where the key was, the only thing Crystal would tell them is what she heard.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
It should've worked...it should've worked...
The thought kept repeating inside his mind as he stayed there, huddled in the corner his cell. He didn't know what went wrong, his plan was perfect. He waited until everything was quiet, unlocked the door and moved to Crystal's cell. He picked her up, which wasn't hard because she was pretty light for her age, or he was stronger then he thought. He headed out of the dungeons ran as fast as he could. It was a clear shot to the top, but half way there he felt himself stop.
"Going somewhere?"
It was Shadow's voice, and before long both he and Crystal were smashed against the wall, almost to the point where they would be crushed. Crystal was right, he didn't do anything by escaping but make them more angry. The guard that he took the key from was lieing next to Shadow. Now he was back in his cell, cowering like a rat in a cage with a cat staring hungrily at it. His clothes were torn to the point it looked like all he was wearing were rags. He had more cuts on him, more scars.
Screams again, that's all he heard lately. It was all he heard for the past few days, which felt like eternity. Crystal would be taken, tormented to the point where she would almost fall unconscious, and then it would be his turn. Who would it be this time? Shadow? Cain? Crimson? The choices seemed to be endless. Shadow would use her powers to smash him, toss him around like a rag-doll, even stretch him to the point of breaking. Cain would use the elements around him as usual, cutting and stabbing him slowly, making each pain count.
But the worse...the worse was Crimson. Crystal had told him she had the power to manipulate , but nothing like this. She would make his boil, literally, or halt it's flow to the point of almost dieing. She would make him bleed through anything possible. Sometimes through the hole in his side, sometimes his ears, eyes, mouth, and even places he didn't know he could bleed from.
The screams came again, causing him to cover his ears as if that would block out the sound. His eyes were wide and the look they had were almost to the point of madness. Crystal was right, they were never getting out of this place. They were trapped like rats. Toys to be played with until their usefulness was over. He use to pray that help would come, now he only prays that they would just kill him.
Footsteps came, a newer member bringing Crystal back to her cell. He didn't look at her anymore, he couldn't, not after he failed her. He couldn't look at anything anyway, his own mind completely torn apart with fear and pain. He heard his own cell door opening then, his eyes staring up in horror as the guardsman came his way.
"No..." it almost came out in a whimper, "No more...please. Please! Just go away! Leave me alone!"
He swatted away at the man as he came closer, but his arms had lost their strength, his body shrunken almost to the point of being skin and bones. The guardsmen just smiled and grabbed him, dragging him kicking and screaming back up the hall. Ian's voice continued to echo back down into the dungeon, begging and pleading to be released. There was silence, then more screams came, only this time they were his.
