He stood up when she did, and was about to argue about Ian being an idiot and being compared to Cain until she made her point. He held his words then, knowing she was right. Ian relied solely on his speed and never threw a punch, at least from what Bobby's seen. He'd never seen Ian take things seriously, and if it took Merfonde to exact her training on him to get him to learn to fight, then that's what he would do.
"So when you contact the school, how will I know it's you?"
They didn't really work out code names, or set up signs or ways to know who was on the other end of the line. What confused Bobby more as he thought about it, of all the people she picked to meet with about Ian, why did she pick him? Though they didn't get off on the right foot, they did tend to build up a common respect for each other, at least that's what he thought. When she turned and smiled at him, he couldn't help but smile back and nod. Maybe someday she would be able to meet Xavier.
"I know I don't have to tell you but...be careful ok?"

“You won’t.” Merfonde was smirking again. “Don’t tell me you get so many phone calls that you might miss mine?” She shook her head, still smirking and running her fingers through her hair. “Just keep an eye out for it. You’ll know it’s me when you pick up. If I tell you when or how I’ll call, there is a chance that someone could tap into the call.” She truly was a cautious woman. She was always keeping an eye out for the ‘enemy’, whoever the enemy might be.
Merfonde started to walk away again, but stopped after a few steps, looking back at Bobby to fix him with a stern but trusting look. No doubt he was confused about why she was talking to him. What he failed to realize… She didn’t exactly know that many X-men, so he’d been the obvious first choice… “I know you won’t rat me out, but just remember to keep this to yourself. The less people that know what’s going on the better.” There was the other reason she’d chosen him. She knew he wouldn’t betray her. She trusted him, and him alone among the X-men.
Again, she started to walk away when she heard him ask her to be careful. She softly smiled, waving back at him. “Didn’t I tell you that I’m always careful? Geez, it’s like you don’t trust me at all! Thanks a lot!” Her voice was dripping with sarcasm, but it almost sounded like she was trying not to laugh. “Just keep an ear out for my call.” She headed off once more, picking up her pace and leaving the park before he could say anything else to make her stay any longer. She had a runner to catch up to. A runner who could move from continent to continent in little to no time at all!

"Ok, I'll keep an ear out for you then."
He smiled, almost saying eye out, but how can you keep an eye out for someone that comes and goes as she pleases without anybody really knowing? When she looked back and smiled at him, telling him not to worry and that in a way she trusted him, he couldn't help but smile. At first she seemed cold and unfeeling towards him, but now it's like they were forming some sort of bond.
"Ian, buddy, I hope you're ready for this."
He didn't speak to anybody in particular, looking up at the sky as it began to cloud over. He could feel that snow was coming soon, and as he turned to walk away he over heard people talking. Looked there was some sort of battle on main street and now there were talks of strange lights coming from the sewer. Bobby walked over to where the people were talking and got as much information as he could. He figured a little exploring would do him some good outside the school.
"Where did you say the lights were coming from?"
"Down main street near the edge of town." the man said.
"Thanks."
Turning, Bobby headed for the sewers.
