She couldn’t help it, Maru smirked, happy with the results she’d gotten. At least he wasn’t floating around her like before. Now, he was on his knees, groaning from her assault on his ears. And who ever thought words couldn’t hurt you? Well, she’d obviously already proved them wrong.
Her words only made her laugh, her hand raising to cover her lips and hide the outburst. How entertaining he was… Even if he was a complete, and very dangerous, mystery. Laughter under control, she sighed softly. “Well, it looks like the cats out of the bag then. You really can be an annoying pest when you try.” Just because he knew her power now, didn’t mean she was worried. Quite the opposite. He might just underestimate to what extent she controlled sound. But this much was obvious. When he’d been in smoke form, the way her sound waves had bounced around, it was obvious how she knew everything he was doing. She was ‘squeaking’ at things. Just like a bat.
Maru sighed again. Now she felt a little bad about her attack. “Unplug your ears, and I might take you for a man of your age.”

Ferdinand, in a hushed tone, laughed before exhaling a thick cloud of smoke from his mouth, the nearly solid smoke from his ears seemingly disappearing. "So how much have I aged?" With a sly wink he allowed himself to be carried by a stiff breeze up onto the bench, once again beside Elizabeth. "You sure are a bore you know that?" Teasingly he poked her in the arm, "you haven't moved a single centimeter since you sat!" Tapping his chin as he smoked his cigarette he looked for the words to describe her, "statue-esc almost." Continuing to absorb her comments, behavior in its entirety and her mannerisms once again, Ferdinand, almost childishly, took her words out of context. "You know, I never really cared for cats. Bags neither. Cats are always licking themselves and bags? Too fragile! They tear far too easily." Waving his hand as if annoyed by the simple thought of a bag, Ferdinand began to rhythmically tap on one of the bench's planks between his legs.
"So, we're both mutants and as such we understand that there are further implications." Rubbing his smooth chin, he took a long moment as he inhaled the smog. Then, just as long, he exhaled the very cloud that smoothly had lolled about his mouth, throat, and lungs. "X-Men? Brotherhood? Freelance? Where do you place yourself?" He was generally curious where Elizabeth stood in the mutant war. While who she was truly aligned with didn't much matter to him, he couldn't help but wonder where her head was at. "You see, an organization is only as strong as it's philosophy. That very philosophy incorporates it's member's very thoughts and being. Their life, how they live it and what they make of it. Some philosophies are purer and juster than others but only if it is strong, concise and practical will it succeed. Like all ideals, organizations shall fall victim to their own arrogance and self absorption. At some point, they all consume themselves by closing their mind to the outside word. Having an open mind works one in the same. It makes them susceptible to being diffused. The fall of the Soviet Union for instance, glasnost and parastoika, while successful in their missions lead to the ultimate evaporation of the USSR." Ferdinand hoped that by sharing his thought process that Elizabeth might be more comfortable and inclined to revealing who she was in full.

For the first time in their conversation Maru laughed. Truely laughed. Statue-esc was she? Eh, that was sort of true.... She quickly shook her whole upper body. "There, I have officially moved more then a few centimeters." But by now, her guard had been lowered even more, her body no longer rigid stiff. She brought her feet up onto the bench, pulling them tight against herself and resting her chin on her knees.
"Well, I happen to like cats. At least you can leave them alone for hours and not have to worry about them eating the furniture." Maru scowled a little. Every dog she knew was a monster, always chewing on everything it could get it's teeth on. She couldn't even imagine how much the beasts had cost their owners over the years.
So he wasn't convinced of her white lie? She hadn't given anything away, had she? She was a new X-man to begin with, not having done anything as of yet that would raise any suspicions... This guy was just a little to sharp for his own good. But Maru wrinkled her nose a little when he named the Brotherhood. "I should feel insulted. You think I'm part of the Brotherhood." She paused, shrugging and shifting a little on the bench. "Well, I'm not sure I should tell you, not unless you tell me first." She turned her blind gaze in his direction. "You're far to knowledgeable to be freelance. That much I can tell."

Ferdinand pursed his lips obviously having struck a minor nerve. "So, you like cats. Obviously have a distaste for the brotherhood and seemingly...gentle." The last part was an observation he'd made just recently. When he went on the offensive against her, forcing her to make a decision, she could have easily taken advantage of him with his lack of knowledge of her power and deafened him if not caused his head to explode. From this, she was obviously not a member of the Brotherhood. "Hm. I dunno if I should tell you who I am. Lets just say I'm a master, no no no, the master of reconnaissance. I don't pick sides nor do I form opinions about either. I simply observe and gather what information I can about them." Licking his lips now, Ferdinand took another long drag on his cigarette, "I will also add that I follow no ones lead but my own." Having sucked in a thick cloud of smoke, Ferdinand allowed his body to once again become intangible. His body phased into a cloud of fumes and then passed through the bench. Materializing behind the bench, now standing with his hands in his pockets and his cigarette dangling from his lip, he turned his eyes to his right and then spun on his heels to match his heads direction. "How about we go for a walk."
Not waiting for Elizabeth to answer, Ferdinand began to do his usual. The city was his domain but he was never the type to stay in one place for too long. There was always an objective to his journey's and with so many cities in the world, Ferdinand had a lot of ground to cover in such little time. With his power however, Ferdinand was able to optimize his time and travel faster than the average human. He did this by often studying weather patterns, allowing a strong wind to carry him inconspicuously from town to town. With pollution being his specialty, Ferdinand was was also able to lie low within the city's natural "smog" be it small or large. Vehicles also provided free, quick transportation allowing Ferdinand to trail behind in the fumes given off by a cars exhaust. In many other ways, he was also able to enter the engine and sit with the fumes. He was a master of disguise and recon in this sense which was why he was always on the move. With his abilities, he would be foolish not to take advantage of his powers.
