Taylor shook her head. “I mask my emotion so that no one can use them against me.” She saw it happen all the time to her father; People finding out what you liked so that they could use it against you. Her grandmother also did it enough times to her. It was no secret that her grandmother did not approve of her mother, and because of that she was even harder on Taylor.
When he told her that he could help her she just stared at him. Trying to gauge how much of that is sincere. “Is this a fact?”

He nodded. "But no one here wants to use your emotions against you. And if they do, you can just tell me and I'll go beat them up for you," he smile at her then. He turned her over gently so that she was facing him and could read the little emotion he could out of her eyes. "And of course that's a fact. I'll always be willing to help you."

Taylor was again reeling and at a lost for words. She didn’t know anyone who would do anything like this for her because they wanted to and not for some kind of gain in return. When she finally felt like she could speak she looked into Kyle’s eyes. “Alright. We will try it.” She was willing to give it a try when he was being sincere about it.

Kyle could tell she was in shock. Was no one ever nice to her before? It was like she'd never had a friend before him. "Good," he nodded when she finally spoke. Then he smirked, "But I was serious before. If anyone tries to use your feelings or opinions against you, I'll beat them up for you. You don't deserve that. Even if you are wearing a mask, you still don't deserve anyone hurting you."

Taylor stared into his eyes for a few more minuets, then suddenly felt shy and turned so she was facing the beautiful sunset. This is why they had come out here after all. He brought her here so she could see the beach. After a few minuets of silence Taylor finally spoke. “I am used to it. My grandmother is a master at it.” And as much as she appreciated his over he could do nothing to her grandmother, who was the heart of the problem. All the same she was grateful to him for saying it.

He looked at her curiously. Then he smirked devilishly again. "Was that a look of shyness I just saw?" he smiled at her then, chuckling slightly. "That's good. It's a start," he propped himself up again so he could see the sunset over her. But he wasn't watching the sunset, he was watching her face for her response. Before he could help her show emotion, he really had to get to know her first.

Taylor watched the sunset; letting the relaxing scene help her relax. She didn’t know why she was suddenly so tense in his presence. Just a couple of moments ago she was completely relaxed, or as relaxed as she ever got. Now she was tense, was it because of something he said? She wasn’t sure. What was wrong with her? She let out a sigh on the inside, then remembering that she was trying to loosen up let it out slowly.

He looked at her then, seeing as she wasn't going to reply. He also noticed she seemed a little more on edge than she had been a few minutes ago. He pursed his lips slightly as she sighed slowly. Her expression almost looked like she was nervous or something. "Are you all right?" he finally asked, unable to think of what could be bothering her.

Taylor really had no idea what was wrong with her, and she wished she did. Why was she acting so weird around him so suddenly? He was acting like the same guy he had been all evening, maybe a little more deep and thoughtful, but still he was being himself. Taylor shook her head trying to clear the feelings away. She then turned to Kyle when he asked if she was ok. “I” Was she? She didn’t know. Maybe she was getting sick after staying out in the rain earlier that day? No that just didn’t feel right. Then what was it?

He looked more concerned now. She hadn't answered him. That means she must've been feeling something but didn't know how to show it. Perfect time for his teachings to come in. Only one problem: he had no idea what to say. He was no teacher, and knew he'd be bad at it.
"You're feeling something," he observed. He turned her over so she was lying on her back. He was still propped on his elbow against the sand so he was taller than her, and looked down over her, examining her expression but couldn't tell what she was thinking. "I know you probably don't know what it is, from the look on your face," he admitted, giving her a sympathetic look, "But just try to tell me what it's like. I probably have felt enough emotions in my life to be able to figure it out."

Taylor laid back on the cold sand looking up into Kyle’s eyes. How did she even start to explain what she was feeling? Taylor may not show what she was feeling on the outside she did feel most emotions, though this was completely new to her. Taylor waited for a couple of moments, trying to find words that could possibly describe what she was feeling.
“I don’t know.” Was all she could say for now. She closed her eyes, concentrating on the feelings. She was feeling nervous, but she wasn’t afraid. She was more aware of the person with her then she was a second ago, but what that mean?

He sighed then, managing a smile. "That doesn't help me help you much, does it?" he sighed. This was going to be harder than it looked. She honestly didn't know what she was feeling... Even though she didn't show it through her expressions and only slightly through her eyes, Kyle knew that she must've felt emotions, real emotions, somewhere inside her. He just had to get to them somehow.
"You've never felt it before now, have you?" he suddenly realized. They must've been new and that's why she didn't know.

Taylor knew that it didn’t help him if she didn’t ell him what was wrong, but she really didn’t know how to describe it. Normal emotions she was used to-Happy, sad, anger, but this was something totally different. When he asked her if she ever felt it before she looked him back into the eyes and said, “No.”

He sighed. "This might be harder than I thought," he admitted grimly. He sat up straight then and looked down at her. "Well, is it like a combination?" he suggested. "I feel like that somtimes, usually when I'm trying to figure something out. Can you tell me a part of it? Like nervousness or sadness or self-consciousness or something else?"
He only listed self-consciousness because something about her eyes told him that she was. And she looked a little nervous too, but not from her face. It was from her body language more than anything else.

Taylor nodded. That was exactly what she felt like-Nervousness and self-conscious; Like she didn’t know how to act around him anymore, unless she acted like a complete idiot. “Both.” It was ironic, he said that it was harder then he originally thought, but he seemed to have more of a clue as to what was going on then she did, and she was the one feeling it.
