Kyle kicked off his shoes and walked down the beach. He watched Taylor beside him closely. She mystified him somehow. She was so emotionless and it just urged him more and more to get the real Taylor out. Maybe the beach was the perfect place to do that. And he'd at least gotten to her on some level, if she wanted to hang out with him.
"You know it's beautiful here," he smirked at her almost mischievously. "Just admit it." He hoped that she'd say this is a fact again. He loved it when she said that.
Just like he'd predicted, no one was there but them. Everyone else had probably left when it started raining. The sand even still had prints on it from where the rain hit it. There were still gray clouds in the sky, but the two of them were in no threat of beind rained on again because they were in the distance. And the way the sunlight hit the rainclouds just made it even more beautiful.

Taylor hadn’t been to a beach since she was a little girl, though there were many of them in Vineland. She had forgotten how beautiful they were, and this one was no exception. The ocean was a nice shade of royal blue and was gently lapping at the shore, while the sand was a dark color because it was still wet after the storm that had just happened.
Kyle was right and they were the only ones there, most likely because no one wanted to come back to the beach right after it rains incase it was just a reprieve and it started raining again soon. When he asked her to admit that it was beautiful she nodded her head. There was no way she could say it wasn’t beautiful, and she didn’t disappoint him when her next word were, "This is a fact.”

He flashed her his teeth in another smile when she said "this is a fact" again. It was definitely her catch phrase, and he hoped to hear her say it more. "Now all we have to do it wait for the sun to set. Then you'll see something truly amazing," he admitted. "But that'll be a few minutes," he added after a minute and thought a moment.
When he stepped he slipped and landed right on his back against the sand. He laughed then and looked up at her when he got an idea. He smirked devisilishly with one eyebrow raised as he grabbed her leg and pulled her down beside him. He didn't pull her enough to hurt her or anything, just hard enough to pull her down beside him.
After she was lying beside him, he put his hands behind his head for a pillow and looked at her and waited for her to say something. He waited to hear her reaction. He knew it would probably take more than that to get rid of her unemotional mask, but it was worth a shot.

Taylor just looked at him, a smile in her eyes. He really was an odd one, but at least he was himself. Something she wished she could be for the longest time, but that just wasn’t possible. The two of them just continued to walk down the beach and when he said that they had to wait for the sun to set she just nodded. “I see.”
When he slipped and landed on his back she raised an eyebrow. It seemed a lot of people were slipping today. First her and now Kyle. When he pulled her down her eyes widened in shock. Did he just do what she thinks he just did? When she turned to look at him he had put his hands behind his head and was looking up at the sky.

He couldn't contain his laugh for very long. He'd seen the shock on her face even if it wasn't for very long. He finally just laughed and looked back at her, quiet now. The laughter was still in his eyes, though. He was almost surpirsed she didn't say something unemotional but he guessed it actually wasn't that shocking she hadn't said anything. What he exptected her to say, he had no idea. That was mostly the reason he'd done it.
He knew everything about him was probably throwing her off. He could tell by the way she was acting that most people probably didn't like her. And the way she acted, all emotionless and proper, he knew that most people would act different around her. But not him. He always acted like himself, no matter who he was with.
After a while he looked back at her. "Aren't you going to say something? No one's ever done that to you before, have they?" he laughed once softly after he spoke.

Taylor was still reeling in shock. He had intentionally made her fall, and it wasn’t to be mean or vicious but for fun. No one she knew would ever do something like that to her and, she liked it. She liked that he was himself while he was around her.
After a couple of moments silent he started laughing, no one ever laughed at her and she probably should have said something. Problem she was having trouble of thinking about anything to say. Everything about him was new to her and she didn’t know how to deal with it. Taylor just shook her head. What was she supposed to say?
When he asked her to say something she looked at him and said, “That wasn’t exactly polite.” Even though her tone was still emotionless, and her face was for the most part emotionless as well, he would be able to see the joking tone in her eyes. Taylor then looked out toward the ocean. “No one would have dared to do that.”

Kyle stared at her in almost shock when he saw the joke in her eyes. "Are my ears decieving me, or did you just make a joke?" he smiled at her then. So there was emotion under her mask. He knew it and was enjoying getting to her. Where ever she was from must have not been very fun. Maybe he could loosen her up some. He hoped so.
After a while he replied to the second thing she said. "Why would no one dare to do that? It's just for fun," he raised his eyebrows then. He knew nothing about her, but he'd love to get to know her a little bit. "Is that really such a crime...?"

Taylor just continued to look out toward the ocean, the gentle ocean breeze blowing the hair in the ponytail out away from her. Then he asked her if she told a joke she turned back to face him. “This is a fact.” She did tell a joke. It was one of the ways she could tell if someone was really her friend, if they didn’t laugh to one of her stupid jokes. Taylor knew she didn’t have a very good sense of humor; Taking her a large length of time to spot when someone was telling a joke if she could at all.
Taylor was serious when she said no one would dare pull her down. He father would see that they were severely punished, even if it was for fun. “Yes.” It would defiantly be a crime for him to do that to her in Vineland.

He pressed his lips together. "Then no wonder you have that mask..." he muttered to himself, not really meaning to say it out loud. Where she came from, it must've been completely serious. Nothing fun must've ever happened to her. No wonder she was so different.
He looked at her then since she was looking away and examined her. That's when he realized she must've been someone important. She'd been serious when he'd said it was a crime. It must've been literally a crime to trip her. That would explain why she was emotionless, too.

Taylor just continued to stare out at the ocean. The sun was just setting and was casting a golden glow onto the ocean, turning it a darker shade of blue. The sky was still a blue color but was turning gold, orange, and pink. Kyle was right, the sunset here was amazing. While she was watching She heard him muttering about how why she was wearing a mask. “This is a fact.” He had to be the only one she had met that understand why she had a mask.

He bit his lip and propped himself up on his elbow so he could see her face clearer. She'd said her catch phrase again, but this time it more of concerned him than entertained him.
"You're someone important, aren't you?" he asked suddenly once he realized. He was unable to stop his curiosity. "Where ever you're from, you're someone important there. Really important... That's why it's a crime to mess with you, isn't it?"
He hoped she would answer him, but if she didn't want to talk about it that was completely fine with him. Some people didn't like to talk about themselves, and he understood that. Especially in Taylor's case, he wouldn't pressure her to tell him anything unless she wanted to tell him.

Taylor quickly turned her attention to Kyle when he asked her that. How had he come to that conclusion so quickly? Apparently he was smarter then she’d given him credit for. As far as she knew only the professor knew that she was the princess from another country. How he figured out she didn’t know, but this made her realize that she had to be more careful in the future. “This is a fact.” It was a yes to both of his questions.

He gave her somewhat of a sympathetic look. "That must've been hard," he looked back at the ocean for a moment and then back at her. "You do an amazing job of hiding it," he added. "But what I don't understand is why you would try to hide it. Shouldn't you be proud to be someone important...?" he thought a moment. "That's more than I can say. I'm just a nobody. A goofball nobody." He smiled, but then got serious again, "So who are you?"

Oh yes she should be proud of being the princess of Vineland she thought bitterly. A place where her fathers inner court is filled with people who have no conscience—thieves, murderers, creatures who would just as soon kill you as greet you. In her life she probably had about ten different people want to kill her, and another fifty try to manipulate something out of her; her grandmother being the worst of all. “I would prefer to be a nobody.”

He could tell by her tone that that was probably all he was going to get out of her, for now at least. He laid back down in the sand and looked up at the sky. Obviously, she hated being whatever important person she was. He looked at her then, or at least the part of her face he could see from his angle.
"You know," he said, "You're entitled to your own feelings. It doesn't matter how rich or famous or imporatant you are, and it definitely doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you. They can pick on you and correct you and hurt you, but you should never change who you are because of it. I know that's why you wear that mask. And I also know that I wasn't there when whoever it was critiqued every move you made, and maybe the pressure they put on you was so bad that you had to wear the mask," he sighed and looked back up at the clouds since he couldn't make eye contact with her. "But now they can't pressure you anymore. You don't have to wear the mask anymore."
He sighed, knowing he sounded like a idiot shrink as he talked to her. He hated it when he got like that. But maybe some of it would ge through to her. He finally added softly, "I could help you... if you'd let me."
