Taylor just cocked her head to the side, brushing wet hair out of her face. Was this guy an idiot? Even though she was emotionless she still had manners, her caretaker and grandmother drilled them into her brain with a lot of other things Taylor thought were meaningless. Her voice still emotionless she said, “It is nice to meet you Kyle, Lake.” She used both names, not sure which one to call him. Her caretaker would tell her to call him by his real name, but he had introduced himself as lake.

He chuckled when she called him by both names. "Nice to meet you, too, Taylor," he nodded a hello to her with a smile. He was for sure that she hated him. A terrible introduction killed first impressions. If that's the case then he wondered by no one hated him. And he knew he was mannerless, and that was just something that all his friends had to get used to.
"You're drenched," he suddenly noticed. "Were you out in the rain?" She didn't seem like the type to go out in the rain. She was so emotionless... but maybe the rain was the one thing she enjoyed. He would've laughed at the thought but then she would've questioned him about it, he was sure.

Taylor didn’t know what to think of this boy in front of her. She acted so laid back in front of her, no one acted that way in front of her. They usually were sucking up to her, ran away, or slightly ignored her. They really didn’t treat her like another teenager like them. Although that’s most likely because most people knew she was a princess (the only thing she made the professor swear not to tell the other students) or were afraid of her cold personality.
When he said she was drenched she looked down to get a good look at her for the first time since she came inside. Her black t-shirt was sticking to her small frame and her dark wash jeans were also soaking wet. When he asked her if she was out in the rain she nodded. “This is a fact.”

He narrowed his eyes slightly, still smiling. "Is that like your catch phrase?" he asked. "'This is a fact.'" He mocked her emotionless tone and then laughed. "I kinda like it," he admitted then. He leaned against the wall beside her.
He could tell by the very slight piece of emotion he could pull out her eyes that she was taken aback by him. That was his goal and he'd reached it. Kyle could tell by the way she spoke and acted that most people would probably avoid her. But he just found that rude. Why would you give someone the cold shoulder without giving them a chance...?

He really was strange Taylor thought, but that didn’t necessarily make it a bad thing. She was finding him and his laid back and easy going personality very curious. Taylor didn’t realize that she said this is a fact very much, but as she thought back she could tell that he was telling the truth. “This is a fact.”
Taylor didn’t really mean to be emotionless, but living in her court where everyone one wanted to exploit a weakness in her it was essential for her life that she not give anyone a chance to do that. So she hid her emotions from everyone. Even here, in a country half way across the world, she couldn’t let her mask slip. She was just used to keeping everything masked, she didn’t really remember how to show a lot of emotion now, except for the few and very rare times.

He laughed when she said this is a fact again. He looked at her then. "You're a very interesting person, Taylor. Has anyone ever told you that before?" He only asked her another question so he could hear her talk emotionlessly again. Her blank tone entertained him. It was like talking to an alien almost. And he was enjoying her company thoroughly because of it. A robot alien, maybe, he considered, that big smile not fading from his face for a moment.

When he told her that she was a very interesting person Taylor just stared at him. No one had ever told her that before. She never thought she would hear someone say that about her. Lake certainly was strange. “No. I don’t believe any one has ever said that before for.” For most of her life people just called her beautiful and creative, but she was never sure she could trust what these people said for they could just be saying things to be in her favor. Even now she couldn’t be sure if Kyle was being sincere.

Kyle just kept smiling. "Well, I think you are," he said in a little more serious tone. He knew there was something deeper in there under the unemotional mask. He was determined to find the real her under there. It had to be there somewhere. Of course, he knew he wouldn't be able to get there today, but it was a start.
"Don't you want to dry off?" he looked back at her wet clothes. That couldn't possibly be comfortable, could it?

Taylor kept most of her mask up, but in her eyes Kyle would be able to see a little bit of shock. She could tell that he was serious about her being an interesting person. She didn’t know what to say, so she just continued to stare at Kyle. When he again motioned to her drenched state she nodded her head. “This is a fact.” She then paused for a minuet. Kyle was odd, but she enjoyed talking to him, and besides Reku she really didn’t have any friends. “Do you wish to come and wait outside so that we can do as what you Americans call it hang out?” Her tone was still emotionless as she headed for the stairs that led to her room.

He just looked at her with that entertained smile on his face for a moment. "Of course," he said enthusiastically. Well, this was something. He'd caught her attention, so he was satisfied. Compliments always work, but this time he'd actually meant it. Usually, when he sees a pretty girl he'd call her beautiful or unique just so they'd blush.
But he knew Taylor wasn't like that, and he really did think she was interesting. She was obviously raised well and probably from a much better and fancier place than where he was from. He was shocked, actually, that someone like her would even notice him enough to want to hang out.

Taylor nodded her head and started leading the way to where her bedroom was located. She was really interested in Kyle; he didn’t treat her like most people in her life. He treated her like a normal person, and he was sincere in what he said. That was first for Taylor. Though a lot of things here were a first for her.
When they reached her bedroom she had him wait outside while she went in and changed. About ten minuets later she came out in a white graphic t shirt with a guitar with wings, and light jeans. She had also thrown her hair into a ponytail, though her long hair was still wet. “I do not know many places. Where do you wish to go?” She knew that they couldn’t spend their time right outside her bedroom door.

He looked her over quickly, then looked back into her eyes trying to pull out the little bit of emotion he could. That wasn't much. He thought a moment. "Hm..." he smirked at her then. "Tell me, Taylor, when was the last time you saw the beach here?" he asked, cocking one eyebrow at her. "If we go now, no one will be there because it just stopped raining," he explained.

“I have never seen the beach here.” It was true. Taylor had only been here a week, and that week was mostly spent unpacking and getting her settled into her classes her at the school. She didn’t have much time to go outside; actually she didn’t think she had been out of the school since she arrived. “If this is where you wish to go it is agreeable choice with me.”

He couldn't help but smile at the way she talked. It wasn't the tone that got his attention, it was the words she said. He couldn't tell if it was because she just had a big vocabulary or if she'd just been raised to speak all proper like that. He guessed the second one. "Well, good. Becuase you have to see the sunset over the horizon. It's so beautiful, and it's even more beautiful over the ocean." He smiled bigger, "And we can walk there. It's not too far."

Taylor nodded her head and let him lead the way, because she had no way where she was going and would most likely get lost. Not that she had a bad sense of direction, though if you have no idea where a place is it doesn’t matter in the least. As she walked down the streets that led to the beach she couldn’t help but stare. Everything here was so different then Vineland.
