A crowded, hot, city bus came to a screech. The 5'2, blue eyed, girl, known as Megan. She stepped down the giant bus stairs, hopping gracefully onto the ground. She adjusted the strap to her paint splattered messenger bag. The doors closed behind her and the bus drove away. She brushed her wavy, dirty blond, red streaked, hair to the side. She was dressed in a shirt that read recycle, a denim jacket, and a mini skirt.
She j-walked across the street. Her thickly makeup covered eyes rest upon the sign that read 'Xavier's institute for the Gifted'. She bit her pink, glossy lips. The fifteen year old was dressed rather skimpily. She had to be, or else they would find her. David wasn't the only one being hunted anymore.
David was her older brother by five years. If he saw her like this he would probably have a heart attack. The point was he saw her. They had been as close as close could be. He'd saved her life with his mutant powers. Nothing could separate them. So they thought. The death of there parents sure did. Megan had traveled all the way from Virginia to get here, and now she was standing in front of the gates that her brother might be behind.

David had spent a good day in the danger room, perfecting his skills. So far he was able to change his hand into a ball that pretty much made his arm look like a mace with the ball at the end. He was happy with his progress and decided to talk a walk outside. He couldn't find Anya anywhere, in fact he hadn't seen her since his time at the beach. He still smiled at that day, hoping to have another one with her.
After a hot shower he walked outside and started down the walk way. He was going to take a walk through the woods like he always did, but suddenly stopped when he saw a standing at the gates. She looked confused, but at the same time very familiar. He couldn't put his finger on why, but the closer he got to her, the more familiar she looked. Like a picture in his mind that was blurry but growing more and more clear.
"Hey, you ok?" he said to her, "You lookin for somebody?"

Megan turned her head toward the voice. Her bag instantly dropped to the ground and she turned to face him. How tears welled up in her eyes. "You...don't remember me?" she said as she started to sob. The hurt, scared, alone, look on her face was just like the one she'd had when she sent her brother away.
How could he not remember her? They were siblings, and closer then close could be. She'd spent the last three years looking for him and now he didn't even recognize her! She knew she'd done a lot of growing, but he had to! Already she was starting to cough because of how hard she was crying. Her tears were mixed in with mascara and eyeshadow as she looked at him.
For some odd reason, Megan had a weaker immune system then most. She'd developed asthma after her brother left and was a lot more susceptible to colds. When she got hurt it took longer for her body to heal. Being so emotionally distressed at the moment didn't help at all. Maybe he would recognize her now. That little girl that he had to leave.

"M...Megs?" he asked softly.
Her voice struck a cored in the back of his mind, and when she started to cry, it sharpened the picture that was so blurry. His eyes widened and tears welled up in them as his breathing grew heavy. He was worried about his sister and missed her for so long, and yet here she was, the only thing between them was the gate to the mansion. David made quick work of that, entering the code to get him in and out of the gate.
As the gates to the mansion opened, he didn't hesitate. He even squeezed through the that was there, quickly running to Megan and wrapping her in his arms as he held her. He couldn't believe what was happening, it was almost a dream. She still was his little sister, even if she looked older and more like the kinda you'd see walking along New York. But to him, she always was and always would be his little "Megs". After he held her and cried with her, he took took her face in his hands, looking at her as he did.
"Are...are you ok Megs? How did you get here? You're not hurt are you? Where've you been?"
So many questions he wanted to ask her, but even those didn't measure up to how much he had missed her and was glad she was back. He didn't know what had happened to her, but he knew that now that he had her, he wasn't going to lose her again. He couldn't wait to speak to Xavier and get her in the school.

Oh, Megan had imagined this moment for a long time now. She felt awfully silly for crying so much at the start. After all, she definitely didn't look like that little girl he'd left five years ago. With here mini skirt and make up smeared face. It didn't seem to change David's opinion on her at all though.
When she called her Megs though, she cried even harder. It really was him! And he remembered her, and had obviously missed her by how tight she was being hugged. She was practically lifted of of her feet because of the height difference.
"I've been looking for you. I'm ok. But I-i was so scared..." she confessed to him. If felt like David was just going to disappear out of thin air. But he seemed so real. What if this was a dream? David was being just as over protective as when they were together. By the sound in his voice it seemed like he was ready to hurt anyone who had hurt her. "Y-your not gonna leave right-t," she stuttered out.

"You've been looking for me? But why didn't you stay in town? What's going on, Megs?"
When she started to cry again, he held her once more. He didn't know what else to thing except how happy he was to have her. But what was she doing here? What had caused her to go looking for him? He then realized that he had to get her in the mansion now, because if she was here, then she was an open target for Cain. It made him hold her a little more tighter, he had lost his parents because of that man, he wasn't going to lose his sister to.
"No...I'm not going anywhere, I'm not leaving you again."

"They said it was me. They said i was a mutant to and t-they said I killed them," Megan told David. He didn't know what they'd done to her. The people of that small town tried everything to get her to go 'rock form' like her brother. She was the one that had named his power in the first place.
She knew that it wasn't her brother that killed their parents. They both loved their parents very much. Megan new it couldn't be him. When she told him that he wasn't going to leave her again she started to cry once more. Relieved now. When she felt him tense up, she pulled back to look up at him.
"What is it?" Megan asked, biting her glossy lip nervously.

"Those monsters, they're lucky I'm not going back there."
He wanted to go to the town then, to show them how dangerous his power could be. But he composed himself quickly, knowing that Xavier wouldn't want him to do that. It would go against everything he was taught to do. When she looked up at him and asked him what was bothering him, he couldn't help but smile at her. Like he was with her, she could always tell when something was bothering him.
"Megs, lets get behind the gates and I'll tell you." he walked her to the other side of the gates and pressed the keys to close it. Once the gates closed, he knelt down, looking at her eye to eye, "I...I know who killed mom and dad. I...I met him."

It was good to know that David was still as over protective as ever. Maybe now she would be able to sleep a full night without waking up, terrified. Megan followed him into the gates, not expecting him to say what he did.
Again, she was about to cry. But this time she held back the tears. "What... happened?" she asked. Over the years she'd trained herself not to show emotions but now she couldn't help but seem completely terrified. She reached into her messenger bag, taking out a bright pink inhaler.
David didn't know about her weekend immune system. She didn't want him to worry though. So she took one inhale of it, and stuffed it back into her bag.

"There was a man, his name is Cain. He killed mom and dad and...almost tried to kill me. He's trying to destroy everything that we love in life."
He still remembered that battle the first time he came in contact with Cain. When Megan started crying again, he smiled and used his thumbs to wipe away the tears that were forming. She was really here, really in front of him and he wasn't dreaming this time. When she took out the inhaler, he gave her a curious look and it became a look of worry when he saw her take a breath from it.
"Megan," he only called her that way when he knew she was hiding the whole story. They had done something to her. "What's happened? Why are you breathing from an inhaler?"

No! Someone had tried to kill her brother? And it was the man that had killed their parents. She looked worried and sad. Someone was trying to hurt them. "I'll just be a... liability.." she said, looking down at the ground.
She didn't like talking like that at all, but it was the truth. She would just be somebody that David had to look after all the time. She had no way of protecting herself and couldn't help at all. She looked away when he asked his next question.
"I just.. have a weak immune system..." she told him, trying not to show how much it scared her.

"No." he said, gently grabbing her arms, "You're not a liability, you're my sister. I lost you once, and I refuse to lose you again."
He d revealing the truth about Cain to her, but if she only knew where she was. These weren't just mutants that lived in this mansion, they were his friends and his family. He was going to make sure that it became her family to. When she looked away, he continued to look at her.
"Megs, please. You're more healthy then I was. You got over a cold faster then I did, and I got it before you, remember?" he smiled a little, remembering how he picked on her about that afterwards, but that smile soon left, "What happened to you?"

"I don't want to loose you," Megan said. her voice was growing shaky. And then he asked it again. Oh god, there was no avoiding it this time.
"I was eleven. I kept seeing that logo. MFR." she started to say, voice even shakier. "And they hit me...and... don't let them get me, David," she hung her head and fell to her knees. It seemed like he was the only one that could stop the MRF from hurting her. Cains workers had left far to many emotional and physical scars on her.

"MRF? You mean...you mean they were after you?"
He couldn't imagine why members of the same group Cain was a part of were after her. It gave him more of a reason then ever to protect her this time. He didn't want to hear anything else, knowing that she had been through alot already. Maybe when she was settled in and more like herself she would talk to him. When she put her head down, he couldn't help but hug her one more time.
"I promise, Megs, nobody's going to get you." he stood up, taking her hand in his, "Come on, there's some people I want you to meet."
He gave her a pleasant smile, mainly because he couldn't wait to get her a room in the new place. He almost wanted to celebrate, but just kept his excitement on the inside. She was here with him again and even right then he felt like he was going to wake up soon. He knew she was going to find the place odd, especially with people like Kurt and Hank who didn't look very human like, and Xavier who could tell she what she was thinking all the time.

Megan nodded her head once in response. She wiped her mascara streaked face on her denim jacket, leaving black splotches on it. She didn't want to be upset right now though. She wanted to be happy and back to her old self. It helped that David was such a good big brother.
Some people? Other mutants? "Like who?" she asked, her own curiosity showing. She couldn't help but smile either. And now she was actually smiling, not faking it like she'd been for the past three years.
Megan picked up her messenger bag off the ground. It had felt weird without the familiar weight on her shoulder. The bag was filled with lots of things. Journals, books, drawing tablets, multiple travel packs, etc. She followed after him, excited to meet some new and interesting people.
