The ground was rocky beneath her back and the sun was bright. Ayden was unsure of where she was or how she had gotten there, but one thing was certain. She was far from the comfort of her bed in the mansion. Her memories were blurry and she didn't know how they pieced together.
She was reluctant to open her eyes at first, but when a familiar cold nose probed her ear, she batted it away and decided to face the day. As she had hoped, Faolan stood over her, but his tongue was't hanging slackly and his eyes weren't wide and excited as they ordinarily were.
Ayden rose a hand to stroke his fur, but stopped when she saw that her skin was not at it's ordinary pallor. Instead. it was crimson. It took her a moment to consider everything before it dawned on her. Something in Alice had crept into her mind and lingered there. Long enough to agree to join the Brotherhood in exchange for blood, which was given to her. "I killed them." she breathed in a shaky voice. They had been the Brotherhood members assigned to keeping her in the Ruins. She had slaughtered them, giving herself enough time to break free and run. She still wore her bikini and some of the blood was hers.
When at last, she realized what she had done, she stood and examined the rest of her body, which was equally coated in the coppery-scented liquid. She screamed, her voice echoing off the trees and into the lake, her hands shaking before her, useless to her mind's command. Amid her screams, she began crying. What would become of Alice? The Brotherhood would hunt her, that was certain. Would she always feel a desire to be covered in blood again, or had it already passed? She was terrified. Her voice never cracked through her screams. Faolan had inched under a berry bush, sharing her fear.

"Faolan? Faolan where are ya boy?"
He called out over the woods as he tried looking for the young wolf. He didn't know what had happened, he was out walking with the young wolf when Faolan started sniffing the air. Next thing Tokra knew the wolf was taking off into the woods. Without worrying about what was in there, he ran through the woods. Maybe Faolan picked up the scent of Cain again, that made him start running faster. But when he heard a familiar scream, he ran even faster. That could only have come from one person.
"Ayden!"
It took him a few moments before he came close to where he heard the scream. Another point to show he was close was a small wolf tail sticking out from a nearby bush. He looked under it to find Faolan cowering in fear, which was very unlike the cub. He tried to call to the wolf, but Faolan just kept staring ahead. He followed the gaze into the clearing where he saw Ayden, covered in . He didn't even consider where it came from, and he was quickly at her side, kneeling next to her.
"Ayden...Ayden what happened to you? Why are you covered in ?"

She was still screaming, and sobbing in the process, oblivious to Tokra's presence until she finally ran out of breath. Then her screams were reduced to sobs. Ayden could manipulate someone's mind, pry into someone's mind. She had even mentally tortured a man at one point, but to physically kill someone, especially in the brutal manner she recalled, it was unfathomable.
"I killed them." she repeated, in a whisper this time.
By this time, she knew Tokra was there, but she couldn't stand to look at him. How could she? Her hair was caked with blood and the majority of her body was covered in it. She was just beginning to feel the aching where her skin had torn, both at her feet, on her arm, down her side, and runnig the length of her leg. Her feet were raw, hardly any skin clinging to them, but she needed to get to the water. She couldn't stand the thick red slimy liquid on her anymore. She stood, but nearly crumbled to the ground once there was weight on her feet, but that didn't stop her from crawling into the water, mercilessly scrubbing at her skin.

"What? Killed who?"
He didn't know what else to say at this point, it was way to confusing. He was more worried about the blood on her and the wounds she had along her body. Who did this to her? The only thought in his mind was Mystique. He wanted to go back to the ruins where he looked for Ayden in the first place and go after Mystique.
When Ayden got up and fell over, he tried to catch her. As she crawled into the water, he came close to crying with what he was seeing. What had happened to her back in the ruins that did this to her. He knelt down infront of her in the water, taking her hands in his and trying to get her to look at him.
"Ayden, look at me. Try to calm down, please, I'm here."

She pulled her hands out of his and continued to scramble away from him, ducking under the water to clean herself off, only resurfacing when the only blood left on her was her own. She grimaced when he feet touched the ground again.
"I can't walk." she stated weakly, leaning on her unwounded leg, calmer now that she was no longer coated in blood.

He watched as she continued to work on the that coated her body. There was so much that the water around her was beginning to turn red. When she finally stood up, he stood up with her and walked over to her. He put his arms around her, gently lifting her up and holding her close to him.
"Don't worry about that, I've got you."

She bit back tears and shrunk into his chest, still wincing at her feet and legs.
"I killed them." Ayden spoke more clearly now, yet still befuddled by it. "I don't know how and and I don't know why, I just know I did. And...I liked it."
Ayden swallowed a lump in her throat, hoping to swallow the words from Tokra's ears, but she couldn't keep it secret. He had a right to know.
"They didn't deserve it." she continued. "Especially the kids."
If he had been thinking she was talking about the Brotherhood, he was completely wrong. All she recalled was brutally murdering a household who had tried to help her and then waking up by the lake."I'm a terrible person."

He listened to her as they walked back to the mansion, carrying her in his arms. He didn't know what was going on, but he worried about her the same. He looked to her when she was done, kissing her forehead when he was able. He gave her a gentle smile as he carried her.
"You're not a terrible person, Ayden, things are just getting crazy around here."

"I am a terrible person!" she protested, yanking herself from his arms and almost crumbling to the ground once her feet touch it, but she was determined to stay upright. "I killed innocent people with my bare hands. I ripped out their organs and smeared them all over their own house. Don't act like I'm over reacting."
*Faolan whimpered and gently licked her hand before nuzzling against her unwounded leg in an attempt to comfort her. She was unwilling alter her stance.*
"If you don't believe I'm a terrible person you should just wait until you see the news. I'm sure my act of madness will make the six o'clock news."

"We'll talk to the professor about it ok? Maybe there's something he can do to help."
He had to admit the thought of what she did made his stomache turn a bit. But that didn't stop him from caring about her, and taking her hands in his as he tried to show her. He walked over and picked her up again, continuing their walk to the Mansion.
"I don't know what's going on, but I'm not leaving you again."

*She arched a brow at this statement* "You never left me. I was kidnapped...I killed those people too."
*It wasn't just that she had killed them. The blocks she had built in her mind since she discovered her powers had not only weakened, but were blasted down entirely. She had to force herself into her skull for the first time in a long time, but her range had improved. Since she didn't want to know what he was thinking of her, for he probably came to the conclusion she was a monster, she focused her mind on a hiker nearly a mile and a half from them.*

"I know, Ayden, I went there to rescue you and ran into Mystique." he smiled a bit, "You should've seen how irritated she was, it as actually pretty funny."
He continued walking, a nervous and scare Faolan walking next to them. He held her close to him, keeping her protected from everything. He looked at her and smiled, hoping that she would still be able to recover from this. He still cared about her, and if she looked into his mind all she would see was his feelings for her and the relief he felt to have her back with him.
