Ayden quirked a brow at this. “ Considering that I was speaking while he wasn’t and I rose my hand then it wasn’t an interruption. Besides, this is a discussion class. You discuss things. Considering that fact if I get in trouble for ‘interrupting’ then what’s the point in having it. You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to say what I know. I used to have a mangled fascination with serial killers so I know what I’m talking about.”
She heard some students thinking aloud about why she would be fascinated with serial killers. ‘They’re scary’, one girl squeaked. Ayden fought the urge to express why she had studied serial killers so much. She had seen so many terrors in the human mind it was hardly fathomable. When she saw what serial killers had done she found it a bit comforting, in a way. Though their victims went through dreadful deaths, she always knew that they would imagine something much worse that they wanted to do. She was unable to read the minds of the dead so she couldn’t see their true desires. When Sweeney Todd had slashed the throats of hundreds of men and had them baked into pies he most likely had much more that he wished to do much more than that. That was the same with almost every other serial killer in the world. Much like every other person in the world. Sometimes her telepathy brought her visions of others thoughts and she had seen many horrible actions that had never truly taken place. She had seen men punching their wives without raising their hand, she had seen women assaulting other women for an array of reasons, many of them stupid. She had even seen thoughts that far surpassed any serial killer she had studied. Many of them.
For the rest of the class she stayed quiet, scratching down the remainder of her notes before slamming the book shut, shoving it into her bag, and then leaving the classroom without a word, wheeling herself around Rose and the teacher as she did so. She considered places to go as a massive form joined her side and licked her fingers. Ayden smiled weakly and scratched behind her pet’s ears before leaving the mansion to wander the grounds. It was cold outside today, which meant it would be the most quiet place she could find. Silence was all she really needed at the moment.
